Photoshop CS3

Original post by Espo22

I LOOOVE this program, i recommend it. On adobe.com you can dl the 30 day free trial...I use to have CS2 and its not an easy program, theres IT people who have to take classes for a year to fully understand it, but you can get the basic things and it has alot of cool features. Theres also online tutorials for anyone wanting to do harder things

i actually figured out how to do the black and white pics with splashes of color in them but i did it on CS3 bc i found such an easy tutorial for it.

basically all i do is go to image then adjustments, click on desaturate which makes the pic black and white, then i click on the history brush which saves all the colors from the pics and then just go over the brush the areas i want to color

What i meant by noise was removing the digital pixels in the pictures - smoothing everything out...

IF you want to get rid of the graininess or noise you can go to Filter, Noise, Despeckle or reduce noise and adjust it as you see needed.

Hey jess maybe you can help me out with one thing i want to do...I want to make a picture black and white but add color just to a few things

That is in the layers as well.... There are a few ways to do it.... Let me try and think of the easiest...

Probably:

Create a duplicate layer.

In that secondary layer - do the Magic Extractor & select the points you want to STAY & leave them in color.

In that first layer - make it all black and white.

Use the merge tool & both layers will show - the color one should appear on top of the secondary one. I did this once before...let me see if i can find it...

This I just did now - VERY quick & sloppy....but to give you an idea... (this is my brother & his wife).

Ok i didnt have time to do this last night so if anyone is on that can help, i would appreciate it...ok i did the steps but i see more than one merge tool, which one is it, bc the merge i tried takes one layer away so theres only 1 left but you said theres supposed to be 2

Im not sure what you want to do, but you can go to Layer, Flatten Image (all the way at the bottom) and that will merge all the layers. If you have a hidden layer, it will ask you about it , if you just want all layers merged into one it will do it automatically. You just cant go back and move anything after you flatten. I save one copy with layers as a tiff and one copy flattened as a jpeg.

Oh, okay, the merge selection can be found where your layer box is. You will see three lines with a little arrow in the top right of the layer box, click it and there will be a drop box with merge down and merge visible selections. (Merge Visible retains any transparency in the image.)

Re: Photoshop CS3

Not a big poster but saw this thread and was bored today and decided to download the photoshop cs3 and I just wanted to say Thank You!!!

I absolutely HATE the pictures from my engagement night (and the whole first week really) because my skin was sooo broken out AND I was getting pink eye. Anyway I would never show anyone the pictures haha

But now I removed all the redness and stuff - they're not great but at least I won't mind if people see them lol.

So yeah, kinda pointless but just wanted to say thanks for sharing!
