We are having trouble picking a date for the wedding. We are sure about the winter and love december. December 2010 is too close and 2011 is too far. What does everyone think about early March?? We are worried about January and February weather.

December 2011 will come sooner than you know it when planning your wedding. Though March will save you lots of $$

Re: Picking a date
I thought December was the off season too. I got my first quote today at Chateu Briand for 80pp, I don't know what to make of the price, but I think we are going to seriously consider March.

Re: Picking a date
It really depends in December because there are usually lots of holiday parties and people get married around Christmas and New Years. 80pp is a really good price though. Whne you go just ask for different date quotes if you don't have a particular date in mind

Re: Picking a date
I picked January becasue it was cheaper due to be off season. I thought Dec was off season also but was told Jan/Feb and March was considered off season. I am not concerned about the weather at all. Only because there is nothing we can do about it. I am making plans for transportation and pictures just in case

Re: Picking a date
I was in the same boat..I loved June but the funds are just not there for that so I figrued maybe around Christmas time but I hate being cold.. haha then we were thinking September '10. But I just really couldn't get JUNE out of my head.. :*( Believe me I get a little upset sometimes that it's so far away but after trying to settle for March or Nov., after Spet. was still pricey, I knew in the end I wouldn't truly be happy. You want everything to be the way you envisioned. We just figured we'd sacrifice the day of the week instead of the month. We booked on a Thursday & still have the place we loved. So yes I'll have a 2 1/2 year engagement but when it's all said & done I will be happy we did it this way :) ..(we need to save as much $ as we can anyway)
If you really want December I think that you should go for it & try to hang in there for another 9 months. After I booked June, (June '10 was too close so we agreed on June'11) I was getting a little upset that it wasn't sooner. But I got over it...It will really be here so fast & you just want to make sure that everything is exactly the way you want :)

Re: Picking a date
I was going to book March and got an awesome price at a few halls but once I had decided to go back to school for my Masters .. it was no longer possiblee.. I would still be in school, interning etc. in March. July was perfect bc I will be finished in June. I think Christmas time is nice but I didnt consider it bc I knew myself, I would not appreciate going to a December wedding bc at this timee my spending is out of control and I wouldnt want to inconvenience myself, family, bridal party, etc. Chose the date you are happy with!!! Time is flying byyyy.. everytime I turn around another week is gonee. And you will def be happy in the end bc you will have more time to plan it out thoroughly and save $$$!

I wanted early march too but everyone told me not to being that you can never predict the weather. I wound up choosing the end of may and I am kind of happy I did. Just make sure you choose is what you will be happy with in the long run.

Re: Picking a date
If you have your heart set on December, go for it... waiting the extra year won't even seem like a long time while you're planning. Your date should make you happy before everything else....

Re: Picking a date
Honestly, I would be more concerned about March weather. We had 7 major snow storms last year and 5 were in March. I know bc I work for the utility company and we have these stats.
We booked early January bc our RH will still be decorated for Xmas and I love all those winter colors. Last year on Jan 2nd it was 70 degrees! So you never know.

Your right about March weather, everyone is saying that January weather is low key.

Re: Picking a date
i would go with your first choice - december - if its not off season and you thought it was then the extra time till DEC 2011 will be good so you can save more money....

Re: Picking a date
I got engaged a year ago already! (last August) and we booked the reception hall right away...2 and a half years early.
Everyone thought we were crazy but we just couldn't afford it sooner than that..we needed the time to save.
People kept saying it would go so fast.. I thought yeah right - Jason & I have been together 5 years already I doubt it will move very fast.
well it really did! The last year flew by!!! The wedding is a year and a half away now and booking photography and video took like 2 months because we were so picky and our payments on the reception start in just a few months!
No one is lying when they say the time truly does fly by!

Re: Picking a date
We picked February because according to weather channel it is one of the driest months ( I know its the shortest but it made me feel better)

Re: Picking a date
Really Feb is considered a 'dry' month?
That is amazing news!! lol I have a serious fear of snow. I really hope it doesn't snow, I'll be devastated . I love snow, snow days, winter, but not on my wedding day!

Re: Picking a date
Hi I was engaged in May of 07 and we planned an October 2009 wedding-thats about 2.5 years. Everyone thought we were nuts and that it was way too far away.
41 days till our wedding and time flew right by. I am so happy I picked the date we did.
So if you want a 2011 wedding, go for it. It will be here before you know it and cherish all the fun planning and excitement
