We're ready to start shopping for a DJ. How does one do this? I mean, I know you call and set-up an appointment, but do they have demo videos? Or do you have to catch them at a showcase to hear them?
For those of you who booked a DJ already, wold you mind FM'ing me what your quotes are. I have no idea what a reasonable price is.
THANKS!

Re: Picking a DJ 101, someone please advise....
FI and I went to a showcase to see the DJs recommended by our hall but I also know that they have demos in their offices to show you. We are paying around 1600 for our DJ, a keyboardist for the CH and the giveaways.

You should make an appt....some send a demo tape, while others you may have to ask to see some video. I'll say that when I first spoke to mine on the phone, a few days later I got a huge folder in the mail that included 4-5 pages of references from weddings, sweet 16's, anniversary parties, etc. He also included a compiled list of music that was categorized into everything: Bouquet tossing/garter tossing, cake cutting, parental dances, universal dances, top salsa, top r & b, top dance, top 100 wedding songs, country songs....We were VERY impressed and he came highly recommended. Tanbride just used him, and I believe peabody is also booking him on my recommendation.
