Picking my menu,etc.....

Picking my menu,etc.....

I called my RH to request a menu tasting since they dont do any (just cocktail hr food during their bridal shows) and they said NO but told me I could come in to talk about all the reception details, pick my menu, and get planning started........ I'm going blanc!! I dont know what he means by that! other than picking the menu, what else should i be thinking of discussing with him???? I'm so frustrated cuz i'm always on top of things and now I feel like there should be something I want to request or talk to him about and cant come up with any....AND i'm going today..

Maybe the timeline of the reception? Cake? Set-up (placecards, guestbook, any DIYs you might be doing?)

YOu will probably talk about the menu, timeline of the day. If you have anything specific that needs to be put out in a specific way favors, bathroom baskets, candy table etc. I went over certain things that were pet peeves of mine just so they made sure it was done. Water glasses refilled, not re-using dirty silverware (getting new ones after each course, I hate it when they take it off the plate and put it on the table) that kind of stuff!!!

Write down as many questions as you have now and bring a pad of paper to job down answers and other questions that may come up!!!

Have fun

Probably iron out the specifics and some cases they give you choices of food (like to pick one of three items to serve your guests, etc.)

Also to discuss timeline of the day, etc., etc.

my hall doesn't do a tasting, but they gave use gift certificates to have brunch at lombardi's on the sound....which is basically the same food.

they might also want to go over seating....like where would you like the dais placed...do you want it on a riser...where do you want the cake placed, etc

i don't think i have heard of any RH that don't offer a tasting or other means of trying out entrees. i know some RH that even allowed potential clients to be in the kitchen during someone else's event. that way they could see plating procedures and possible entrees as they would be served. that might be something i'd ask them.

My RH doesn't allow it either.

At our final meeting we discussed the menu, linen colors, cake choices. They gave us a seating chart of the room and we discussed when the final payments are due etc. They asked about all of our vendors (they have to make sure they all have proper insurance, etc.) Just all the little details of the day.

Hey Lil,..... I think they mean the little details. Table arrangements, place cards, guest book, etc.... But if you're not 100% sure, I'd call back and ask them to explain it a little better!
