Those are beautiful pictures! I'm gettng married there also & I'll be very haappy if my pics turn out as nice! I'd love to see more.

Lulu, are you having the ceremony there as well? You'll note we didnt set the ceremony up in the tradional way

I am having the ceremony there also. I would like to have it outside if it is the weather is nice, but I will be just as happy if it has to be inside. That room is beautiful and so open. I like the way you had it set up. Carolyn explianed to me that it could be set up that way, but it is more difficult to avoid having the guests see you before the ceremony starts. Did you have any problems with it?

When we were planning the inside set up I noticed how the backside of the traditional entrance doors formed a natural arch way. The iron scroll work above the door was just wonderful, and created a very balanced picture. I thought my guests should face 'out the doors', rather than out the glass windows (as you see it set up on the vanderbilt mansion website).
Did it pose a problem? For me, no. I hung out in the science wing at dowling. The entrance doorway was out of view from everyone, so I hung out there with my family (I have a pic I can post when I scan it in). It was cool, I could watch the people arrive, and they couldnt see me. I was there a good 45 minutes, but they brought out food and drinks.
When the ceremony was over we walked down the aisle, back towards the science wing, and they opened the main doors up (the ones behind our ceremony) and everyone went straight to the cocktail hour.
For guests that arrived late, yes it posed a slight problem, they couldnt get into the ceremony. If you were planning on following this layout - one suggestion, have a staff member escort late guests through the science wing doors and into the back of the ceremony.
