pictures before ceremony?

pictures before ceremony?

I can't decide what to do. FH and I are not religious, so we don't want to get married in a church. But if we do a ceremony at RH we would have to miss cocktail hour, and then still only have an hour for pics...I also don't really want to see him before the ceremony. I guess i want my cake and eat it too!!!
I am wondering what you girls are doing? or if you have any ideas would be much appreciated

Re: pictures before ceremony?

We are getting married at the RH and then the CH is right after. I do not want to miss any of the CH or reception. We are having our photographer set up a reveal. FH will be standing with his back to me and I will tap him on the shoulder and he will turn around and see me for the first time.

I actually like this idea since we can actually spend some time and have the first seeing me with my closest friends/family.

We are getting to the hall about 3 hours before the ceremony. So I feel like we are going to be able to get so many more pictures by doing it that way. We are not going to have to put 3 hours of pics into 1 hour.

Hope this helps.

Were going to do this too. We're going to go to a park before the ceremony so we can take pictures. At first it was hard for me to let go of the whole him seeing me for the first time as i walk down the aisle idea. But honestly it makes the most sense. Were getting married at the Riviera and the cocktail hour is one of the coolest parts about that venue, we want to be able to be there for it. Also Photography is a big thing to us. We don't want to rush through the photos, we want it to be a fun part of the day. Any bridal party i have ever been in, photos are always the worst part everyone is hungry and grumpy and just wants to get to the party. This way the photos will be a fun experiance for everyone and we can get a bunch of fun shots. I also love the idea of the 'first look' were going to make sure its a special moment for us. And no matter what, hes going to be overwhelmed by seeing you walk down the aisle because wel..l your walking down the aisle at your wedding!! lol

i'm taking pics before - we are going to the vanderbuilt and having the reveal there, video and photos will capture it and like the girls above me said it will be with my close friends and family.
Then to add to that we are also taking pics at the RH before so there will be a lot of pics :)

i guess its the tradition in me that wants him to see me first down the aisle.

We are seeing each other for sure! We want to enjoy our wedding. I was a MOH for my cousin, they did not see each other. IT WAS STRESSFUL! Who needs that kind of stress on your wedding day. We are going to have everything done prior to our ceremony so we can enjoy the rest of our day. Forget tradition, you are spending big $$$ for a wedding. Enjoy the one day in a life you've been waiting for! If anything has to give....let it be the antiquated tradition of not seeing each other.

We have made the decision to see each other prior to our ceremony. We decided this based on a few factors. One, I want to get the pictures over with, so we can enjoy our CH. Second, since we are marrying in the winter there will be little to no sunlight after our 4 pm (full mass). Third, we have little time for pictures after the ceremony since we have a full mass and wont be out until 5:30 and CH begins at 7:30 which will be tight regardless since our church is in Suffolk and RH is in Howard Beach.

I'm not super religious, but I don't want him to see me in my ceremony dress, so I have a second dress that I will take pictures in before the ceremony. That way, we can get the pictures out of the way and enjoy the whole wedding day! ... or at least try to.

Oh! But... if I didn't have 2 gowns, I would have still had that 'moment with the FH' by asking the photographers (both of them) to come in and take pictures when we first see each other.

FH and I doing a church and are religious so are choosing not to see one another before the ceremony. If that's not an issue for you two then why not do the pictures before hand. Many people do it and if deff saves time on the CH!

Our ceremony ends around 3-3:30 and CH doesn't start until about 6:30-7, so we will take pics in between. (Church and RH are only 15 mins away from eachother)

I have always imagined FH seeing me for the first time walking down the aisle and I want to keep that way. But... If we didnt have time between it wouldn't really bother me to do a reveal either... I want to enjoy the CH!!!

My college roomie just did this and i thought it was the most romantic thing in the world!

she had their parents, and her bridal party gathered around the groom (everybody they're closest with) she walked down this tall staircase, and everyone but the groom could see her... he was so excited he was practically dancing... then she got to him and tapped him on the shoulder, and both their faces when he turned around was priceless.
I can't wait to have this intimate moment with just our closest friends and family... so def before!!!

Re: pictures before ceremony?

I'm getting married at my RH.. Im not gonna see FH until the ceremony.

Our plan is to take our pics during CH... my photographer is totally confident he can get it done and done well. We're gonna take pics with our families seperately before the ceremony.

I decided its more important to me to have FH see me for the first time walking down the aisle then to be at CH...my bridal attendant is gonna bring me the food and my steel drum band will be outside so ill still hear them... ill just be taking pictures for that hour.

FH and I are not religous either and we are getting married at Verdis and we are taking our pictures before the ceremony so we can enjoy the rest of the wedding and not have to stop to take pictures. I think it is a great idea to take pictures before the ceremony so you can enjoy the rest of your special day.
