I just started getting into Pilates and I love it! I was just wondering how often I need to do it to see results. Right now I have 2 Winsor Pilates 20 minute tapes. Are these enough or do I need to get longer ones? Thanks ladies!

Re: Pilates
Those are probably enough. Hey its better than nothing. It you don't see results you can always get a different one. The gym I just joined told me when working out you should see results in 2 weeks. Not sure if that is too soon to see results but you should see something eventually.

Re: Pilates
If you're trying to lose a decent amount of weight, like more than 15 pounds, you'll need to do more than 20 minutes. I have a 60min accelerated fat burning pilates workout from Winsor that works really well.

I heard that Pilates is a GREAT workout. I have never tried it though because I thought it was just so slow and I like to move around. I don't know if that is the dancer in me but I am just so curious now and want to try it. Is it too slow?

I do windsor and LOVE it! I do the pilates workout (20 in) 3 x a week and it takes about 2 weeks to feel results...just keep it up....
As long as you do it 3 times a week you should see the results

Re: Pilates
that will help you and is great...When i lost alot of weight i was doing pilates and i love it...it really defines and sculpts your body.
I also have one tape that is one hour long, it focuses on 4 body parts and each body part you do 15 mins each.
First is abs, then arms, hips and legs

not all of it, thats more like yoga...the funny part is before i started i used to watch some moves and say uhmmm what does that do and it didnt look hard, then once you try it, its alot harder than most work outs...You work out every muscle in your body

Oh ok. Yeah I took a yoga class in college and didn't likeit. It was too slow for me. I think I am going to have my MOH (my cousin) do a one on one session with me. She is a trained Pilates teacher and teaches classes. I know she became really toned when she started. I just thought it was slow and I was like there is no way I can sit there for an hour and do it..lol

well pilates is different than yoga, its not slow like that...The pilates workout i do most often is constant moving...Yoga is more the type where you sit there in one position for a while and slower.

You are so right! I had no idea how great of a workout it was until I did it and I was so sore afterwards. I'm going to pick up a longer tape to alternate with the 20 minute one on days I have more time.

well on exercise on demand they have pilates workouts, they dont have an hour one but they have 35 mins which will also help. SO until you buy a new tape you can do that.
Yeah and its weird how flexible you also become after some time. Like some moves theyll say in the workout is for advanced and theyll show an alternative to do it, but the trainer used to say that in time you will be able to do it too, and after a while i was able to do those moves that i couldnt at first

I always forget about the exercise on demand!! I love their kickboxing routines. Yeah, theres a few moves that I'm like no way I can do that, but I'll work up to it. I've made the mistake of pushing myself way too far in the past, so I'm going slow this time. I can't afford to be injured!

yeah they have great workouts on there...and what you can do is do one of your 20 mins tapes and then after do one of the pilates exercise on EOD channel...They have some for 10 mins, 16 mins, 20 mins and 30 mins...so you can combine them.
Yeah youll get there in time, dont worry

Pilates doesn't burn a whole heck of a lot of calories - you need to raise your heartrate to do that. But it will change the shape of your body and how you carry yourself, so you'll appear slimmer (It improves posture and muscle tone so much!) I love it. If you're looking to lose weight, you need to combine Pilates with aerobics, and weight training is great too (the more muscle mass you have, the more calories you burn on a daily basis).
I second the recommendation for the Kickboxing chick on iO on demand. I love her!
Oh, and for a good Pilates workout, I like 'Crunch Fitness: Fat Burning Pilates' with Ellen Barrett. It's not true Pilates, but Pilates-inspired moves that burn calories (lots of squats and standing Ab work and stuff) with 12 minutes of Pilates Ab excercises at the end. You can probably get it on half.com for like 5 bucks, and you'll love it!

Thanks for the recommendation. I think I'm going to get it. I started doing weights as well, so I should be good to go as long as I don't get lazy!
