pissed or not pissed

Original post by SoulMates422

FH called and hit me with a loaded statement. He wants to get some paper work stating that if something happens to him then his mother and I both have to share the decision making. He starts off asking me how I feel about that and then b4 I said anything he states that this is not debatable. I started off fine then I am slowly getting pissed. WHATS THE POINT IN ASKING MY OPINION IF IT IS NOT DEBATABLE?
I really really dont know what to think but I have a weird feeling about this, I don't know why.

Re: pissed or not pissed

I'm glad you worked it out. Sometimes all it takes is talking it out.

Just a side note:
I had this exact thing happen to us but it was my DAD. He has no living will or health proxy & his girlfriend tried to step in and make major decisions when he was very ill. As his daughter, I flipped out (esp since she was saying sh!t like 'he has a DNR')

So in certain cases, I think something in writing would have been helpful. That being said, I BELIEVE (and I could be wrong) that once you are married, you are the decision maker for his care G#d forbid something should happen. If you are the wife, what you say goes.

Hrrrmmm...Being engaged to the biggest momma's boy of all time, I understand where you are coming from....

I think he just wanted to let you know that this is how it is going to be....and he was just being honest with you of how he would prefer it to be...but I totally understand and I would be way pissed too...I would feel its kind of like saying I don't know what is best for my FH.

Sorry girl, keep your head up! Don't let it explode into a huge argument like I would do :)

Glad that FH decided to come to his senses . . . maybe he was breathing in some of that gas yesterday and got a little disorientated

Ouch! That is a tough one! Maybe you can explain (even though its not debate-able) that if God forbid something did happen, you would include his family in making the decision, w/o having the formality of paperwork...I can understand why you're so upset!

I can understand you being a little weirded out byt the situation. I dont really understand why it needs to be on paper-though I do understand where he is coming from
Ive already told FH if anything happens to me he is in charge, not b/c I dont love my parents and completely agree with them but b/c I spend most of my time with him-sohe knows what I would want depending on what situation I get stuck in
Good luck
