Pizza Toppings

Pizza Toppings

OK, so my parents are coming for dinner on Wednesday, and I recently discovered that I can make pizza dough with the bread maker and it's super-easy!
so I was going to make pizza for them....the dough makes 2 pizzas, so i was going to do one traditional sauce and mozarella cheese, but i was wondering what i could do for the other one.....my parents are not very adventurous...
i was thinking maybe pesto and ricotta cheese.....
any other ideas????

Sausage!! Or BBQ chicken--I'm not sure if that's too adventurous. I have a weakness for California Pizza Kitchen

Yum! I do this all the time, but I make mini pizzas and have a whole bunch of toppings and ask everyone what they want on theirs or have a 'make your own pizza' party. How about a veggie one if you're only going to make one other? Like peppers, onions, zuchinni, etc. Although pesto and ricotta sounds mouth-watering. Hello ramble.

I've always wanted to try making on the BBQ. I heard they are great.. the crust gets really crispy.

hmmm, maybe i'll try the mini pizza idea....and let everyone choose their own toppings...or is that too much work?

the only reason i was thinking pesto is because tom just made some yesterday fresh, so we have it and it's yummy yummy!

The mini pizzas might not be too much work. You could just set out some cute little bowls with toppings for them to add on.

only problem with the minis is that we have a pretty small kitchen - there's room for two people tops! so that might not work the more that i think about it.
i do like the BBQ idea, but i'm not sure my mother would be into that...she's really picky

you see why i need help??

Re: Pizza Toppings

I have a small kitchen too and the mini pizza thing really wasn't chaotic because you're cooking and preparing at a different time than you're eating. Here's what I do. I get tons of toppings and seperate them into little bowls and line them up on my kitchen table. I also have one bowl of sauce. Then I give each person a plate with one mini dough on it and let them go along .. like an assembly line ... and choose their own toppings. Then I take all of the bowls away and set the table for dinner while the pizzas are baking. I also make marinara pizza (with just marinara sauce) once in a while and that's awesome.

But pesto....mmmmm. Especially homemade pesto. Joe and I made this with the basil we grew last weekend and it was AWESOME! So that would be great too! Can I come over? I'm so hungry now!

Re: Pizza Toppings

i think i'll just do the pesto.....he made it last week also, and it was AMAZING!!!!
He is so cute - has planted this little garden out in front of our co-op and he's so proud of it! He goes and picks his basil and makes his pesto......
so it ight be nice to use that and show my parents that i'm not the only one who can cook around here!!!

Re: Pizza Toppings

Definitely ... show off his skills! Joe made our little veggie garden too. We're so lucky! Let us know how it comes out. I may have to copy your recipe if it works!

That would be cute, but it might be too much money
