Place card question

Do you put one couple on each place card or do you put each individual's name on a place card. Thanks!

I would do it by couple to save time and cards...plus its not as if you are giving a person a particular seat so as long as they get to their table, theyll be ok

My mother made a good point;
just be consistant.

If their invitation said Mr. & Mrs. John and Jane Doe
than so should thier Place cards.
Same with 'Mr. Joe Smith & Guest'

I agree, probably easier that way, I never actually saw anyone put each individual name. Also, sometimes the person winds up changing the guest that you had in mind, so they don't waste a plate so it makes it easier than trying to impersonate someone
