If your friends are just dating their boyfriends (but have been for over a year) would you write:
Jane Smith & Bill or Jane Smith & guest
I don't know most of the guys last names, but I don't know if it would hurt any feelings to just write '& guest'
What if they've been dating under a year? Do you think it would hurt feelings if some had their guests names and some didn't?
I know I wouldn't even notice, but people seem to take this stuff seriously
Thanks for your help!

Re: place card question
You're right..people do take this stuff seriously and it's important to keep that in mind. We try so hard not to offend people so it's really nice that you are concerned about this...and it will go appreciated both by your friend and the guest. I am putting both first and last name for all guests on the placecards. The invites I wrote and guest but once they confirm I will have all names written out on place cards. So for a couple dating:
Jane Smith John Doe
Table 3
Kinda like that...I put the person I know best first.

Re: place card question
We are also putting first and last names on the placecards. Also before we sent the invites, we made sure we knew the names of people's spouses and SOs. If we weren't sure, we asked. As for guests, once they respond, they should put the name of their guest on the RSVP. If not, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Re: place card question
Hopefully they will write their guests name on the RSVP so you can use that

Re: place card question
I think it should be your friends name & their guests name. I would try and get their last names too but if you can't a first name would be better than just & guest.
