Place Card Question...

Place Card Question...

... Ok, I'm sure this has been answered before but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.

Ok, FH and I are inviting guests 21 and over with a date. 20 and under (unless in a serious relationship) are being invited by themselves.

So with that said... If I invite Mr. & Mrs. ______ and their 18 year old son Mr. _______. Do I put all 3 on one placecard OR two seperate ones?

And does the same rule apply if you are inviting two adults with a small child (6 years old)?

I don't know if this the correct way to do it, but the way i see it, if you send someone a separate invite, he/she should get a separate placecard even if he/she is sitting with the parents at the same table.

As for young kids, you can put Mr & Mrs X and daughter (or write out the kid's full name)

18 year old gets their own placecard.

This is the correct way to handle the situation .... especially keeping in mind that parents & children don't always end up sitting together at a wedding

Ok, so if they are 18 or over-they get their own placecard? But if they are 17 or younger-they are still on their parents card? We're most likely not doing a 'kids' table... Because we only have the RB, FG, and two cousins that are young (3 and 6). The other 'kids' are 15 and up..... So anyone 18 and up seperate card. But what about a 15 year old.... is he/she on parents card?

I've got a couple of my cousins' kids who are in the tween and teen age group, and I haven't even thought about it really.

I don't know if this is proper etiquette, but if you want the tweens and teens to feel a bit more important, you might want to give them a separate placecard, even if they're sitting with their parents. In most cases, they probably won't care nor will they notice. At that age, unless there are a bunch of them who know each other and will have their own table, it's kinda assumed they'll be with their parents.

If you're really worried about it, you can always call the parents and see what they say. I don't know if this helped at all, but at least it's another perspective.

Yeah, I don't actually care what the kids think (does that sound bad? lol ) .... I was just curious what is technically the right thing- if that makes sense? ! I don't think they would even notice what card they were on. I just don't know if I'm supposed to be putting 18 years on the card as their parents-they are getting the same invitation but that's sort of different. Hmm.....

If they are at a separate table (no matter what age) they get a separate card.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with you... If the child is sitting at a different table than the parents- you definitely need to have a seperate placecard. I just wasnt sure if the child is sitting at same table and recieving same invitation but like age 17-18....

Re: Place Card Question...

I would give them their own card just b/c it might excite them...when I was a flower girl in my uncle's wedding and I was 8, I got all excited about the 'Miss XXXX XXXX' placecard! but, it's up to you....we won't be seating parents with children so they'll def have their own....
