Do you recommend using the vellum paper over using Avery labels?

The heat from the candles will make the labels fall off - you have to use the vellum paper

My FILs went to a wedding with these done with Avery (they looked good), but I was going to try it out with vellum paper- I bought the votive and some ribbon, but have not had the time to play around yet!
When I do I will post pictures

I am going to use my Xyron (you can get one at Michaels, they are very handy) - to make the vellum into a sticker.
The wedding that my FILs went to the Avery labels did not fall off.

I went to a showcase at Jericho Terrace and one of the vendors was offering a seating chart scroll, which was poster sized and all the guests names would be alphabetical. I thought is was really different, but FH and my mom vetoed the idea...

My mom and FH both said no way... they were afraid some of our family members won't get t and will end up at wrong tables..lol... i loved the idea though

I love everyone's ideas! At first, I wanted to do something creative and love the candle idea. But, then I thought about it and said I am going to just use the regular place cards and use calligraphy for the names. I am planning to do something a little more creative for the table numbers.

As per the place cards, I just opted to use the cards already offered by our hall. They place on the table with votive candles, looks very pretty. With the seating chart scroll, love that idea. I am just afraid too, that some guests may forget where they are sitting, especially after a few drinks and socializing with everyone. Where if they have something in their hand they will know exactly where to sit.
