I thought the members of my BP and I (just 2 girls) would shop in the city, where I live, for dresses, but I realize that would really be a pain when they had to go for fittings. I'm not too familiar with where to go on the Island. I thought we might go to Thread or someplace like Nicole Miller where they could each get similar, but not exactly the same, dresses that they would be free to wear again (unless that's a total bridesmaid myth!) Any suggestions?

Thanks everyone! My MOH actually mentioned the Commack Wedding Center, so maybe that's the best place to look.

we ordered our BM dresses at commack last night....2 of my BM 's said they DONOT want dresses altered there , had them done in the past and had nothing but problems!!! The salesgirl assured us that after the alterations are made if they dont like what they did they will do it over...so now im worried!!!! , one of my BM said she is just taking the dress somewhere else to be altered!!!

Agreed!! I had a BM dress altered there, and it came out horrible. The top was way too big, and when I pointed that out to them, they said no its fine, we will give you some double sided tape. And thats what they did, no offer to alter it again. I should have been more forceful considering I paid the max. $60 for alterations.

Why not?
because they do a HORRIBLE job... I was in a BP and ALL THE GIRLS had problems with their dresses! Save yourself A LOT of grief and do not use them for alterations!
