Placecard Etiquette

Can we write the placecards more than one way? I have some people who want their first name and their husbands (which I sort of agree with b/c the woman deserves a name too) and then i know it will be hard to get the first names from his mother. We were thinking of doing them the way people filled out the response cards, but that seems weird.

Any suggestions?
