placecards?

I was wondering what everyone was doing for their place cards. I dont want to do frames, but I am looking for a way to make them more exciting!.......Any ideas?

We are doing a fall/thanksgiving theme, and I was trying to think of ways to incorporate leaves maybe. But we already have favors, so I was looking for a cheap way to make the placecards more exciting!.....

I can't remember who, but someone did mini-pumpkins with labels as their placecards. They just posted a pic within the last week or so. They were adorable!!

Someone else did regular placecards with a leaf on the top corner. I think she said she got the leaves at Genovese and they were super-cheap.

I was recently in the Papyrus store in Grand Central Station and they had very cute placecards (in the shape of leaves, wedding cakes, etc.). They were $5 for a pack of 10.

I was trying to think about cute placecards. I finally got so tired of racking my brain, I decided to do regular place cards (maybe w/a silver border) and put rose petals and votives all around the table surrounding the cards.
Inexpensive, and a rest for my brain, lol
I'm way too 'un-creative', but some of the Brides here are great with creativity, and I'm sure they will give you MUCH better ideas then me.

I am using snowflake shaped placecards, punching a hole through the top, stringing silver organza ribbon through, and draping them on pinecones. I think theme can have a lot to do with the placecards you choose.

If you don't want to change the size of your placecards, perhaps you can have a pretty display of some sort in the center of the table where they will be displayed.

autumn: pumpkins and leaves
winter: pinecones, candy canes, or like me, I have an acrylic snowman
spring: flowers, butterflies
summer: same as spring maybe...

Marnles, where are you getting snowflake shaped placecards? Were they expensive?
Do they have spring/summer shapes?

Good question Lizlen...I originally was going to get them from the Martha Stewart website...I was going to order them today, until I realized that they only come in 'steel blue' (whatever color that is!!)...all I know is that my wedding colors consist of black, white, silver, and a splash of lavender...no blue!! So now I'm not so sure. My friend from work (Kelly4 on LIWeddings ) said they have an die cut machine in the administration building, and they have snowflakes. So I am going to buy card stock and do them there.

Check out marthastewart.com...I think they had butterflies and sanddollars (I don't know what your theme is)...good luck with it!!

I don't really have a theme. All I know is I'm trying to be simply elegant and sophisticated.
My colors are platinum/white with peach accents. I will check out the site and see what they have.

Maybe instead of going with a shape, you can get the tent style card, and hot glue some really pretty flowers from a craft store. That would be very elegant. You can get platinum colored cards, and buy small peach and white flowers to glue...just a thought. Good luck with it!

I'm sure the Paper Superstore on Route 110 would have all kinds of placecards, hopefully they would have platinum ones. I could buy the little flower-thingys at Micheals, I've seen them Thanks for the idea. I LOVE IT !!!!!

I saw this idea in Martha Stewart where the placecards weren't cards but colored heavy paper cut in the shape of flower petals. They were posted on this board which had a few flowers painted on it and each name card was a petal. I don't know how the petals were attached, but they came off the board. Maybe you could do something like that with leaves on a tree...or featers on a turkey (well, that might be a bit much!)
