Ok Ladies, I am not a crafty woman nor am I really a DIY person. But I figure I could try to do my placecards on the computer as a DIY sort of thing. Could you tell me where you get the placecards. I saw some at staples and officemax but they were generic and boring. Any suggestions? Even websites?

Re: Placecards
I'm not really crafty either, but I came up with something that's both easy & cute...
First I went to Michaels & bought the Gartner Studios Pearl Ivory Placecards. Then I ordered some Maple Leaf brads (small paper fasteners) online to match my maple leaf/fall theme. After printing them up, I simply punched a tiny hole up in the upper left hand corner of the placecard & slide the brad through it - it looks AWESOME If you have a theme, you might want to try something similar. I paid something like $5.99 for 50 placecards & $1.99 or $2.99 per box of 50 brads (I got 2 different types). HTH!

Re: Placecards
I bought my cards from Michael's/AC Moore - followed the directions on the package using Microsoft Word and BINGO, all the names were typed in and we just hit print.

I bought these placecards too. I added the snowflake clipart to them that I used on the menus, favor tags, tictacs, etc.

What a great idea!!!
Thanks!! I'm not very good at taking pics, but here are a few so that you can get a better idea
My dad did the calligraphy, I attached little flowers from Jolee's that I got at Kate's Paperie (although they have them at Joanne's and Michael's, etc.), and I used little label stickers on the inside for the table numbers when I did the seating plan.
I made the 'paper chair' place cards... they were pretty easy to assemble. The hard part was printing and cutting the vellum (which was what the name/table# was on.)

I loved the way they turned out.
Those are just adorable! I love them - nice job!

Re: Placecards
Thanks! I'm really happy with them. Can't wait to put ours in the scrapbook (when I do the scrapbook.)
There are so many ways to make your placecards unique and your own, and it's really easy, too, with all the stuff in the stores now for scrapbooking and cardmaking. I had thought about using real dried flowers on mine, which you can buy, but I worried about them breaking and flaking off when the cards were being transported and put out. Then I was in Kate's in Soho when they were moving locations and everything was discounted, so I was able to get the Jolee's paper flowers for 30% off (I think, it was something like that.) The only thing I'd recommend is using something 3-D but fairly flat, like the cut paper flowers I used, or the brads that the other poster used. Another easy idea would be to use some skinny ribbon, in a bow or just threaded through punched holes or slits. That would be pretty and inexpensive, too.
