Mr John Doe and Ms Whatever her name is

I think it's better if you find out the guest names.

Re: Placecards...

I just did mine this past weekend and what i did was if I had the guests name I put:

Mr. John Doe and Ms. Jane Smith

If I only had the first name i did:

Mr. John Doe and Jane

and if i had no info I did:

Mr. John Doe and Guest

I really did not have the time to call each person and ask them b/c i needed to complete them this weekend b/c the hall wanted them yesterday.

HTH.

Re: Placecards...

If I know the person that they are bringing I am putting Mr. John Doe & Ms. Jane Smith and if I don't know the name of their guest I am putting Mr. John Doe & guest.

Except my guests weren't always cooperative about getting them to me in time - b/c they didn't know. So yes, some of them said 'and guest.'

Whether you use the 'Mr.' or not is a personal preference. I used it. My calligraphy artist said that she gets requests for both - about half and half. If your event is more formal, go with the Mr.
