Placecards-from a man's point of view

Hi ladies.
I was talking to a man i work with today who told me he went to a wedding a few weeks ago.
He told me how everyone though the placecards were such a pain in the neck to find their names, nice size placecards ( this was not the problem) and there was a big crowd around the area and it took so long.
Now, he went to another wedding this weekend and they had someone from the hall, stand near the entrance of the reception room. the gentleman asked each couple their name (names were in alphabetical order on the list) and then gave them their table #. he said it was quick and easy.
just thought i'd share....

I think Eastwind does that. But I can also see a huge line at the door while people are giving their names and waiting to be told what table to sit at.
I suggest splitting the cards up in to A-L M-Z or something like that.

I believe where we're having our reception offers a Maitre'D & Captain to help folks get to their table.

I guess that's something I should inquire about!

Re: Placecards-from a man's point of view

Even though we're having the reception in a tent in my grandparent's yard, we're still using placecards to keep things orderly. I never thought to put them in alphabetical order, or to have someone at the table to assist them in finding their card, there certainly are perks in having a wedding at a catering hall. This is starting to get really stressful...

Re: Placecards-from a man's point of view

I used chocolate place card favors.... a service provided by Pam from Chocolate wraptures and I think the size was great. I did not see a line and the Maitre D was standing there in case anyone was having a problem finding their's to help them.

I think if a lot of people enter at once their could be a line, if people are coming in a little at a time then it could work, I think its a nice touch tho' rather personal.

Jenn I just re-read your post, our place cards were in alphabetical order laid our rainbow style

Happy planning
