Places for RD near Huntington for under 20 people?
Original post by TrueLoveIn2008
I thought FILs were going to want all OOTers at the rehearsal dinner, but FH spoke to them last night and they are thinking just immediate family. Which I like better because we can have it on Thursday possibly, instead of the day before the wedding.
Up until now, we were looking at places that would close for us - smaller places that if we had 40-50 people, they would close for us for a few hours. (FILs are in FL so we are looking into venues for them.)
Places I've considered are FH Riley's, Meehans, Rosewood Inn. Does anyone know of any place that has small private rooms? Or even just a nice restaurant that we can have a big table at?
Doesn't have to be in Huntington, although FH and I live here and love the area - FH's parents are from the area too and really like it. But my family lives in Wantagh, so anywhere between the two is ok I think for an idea.
TIA!

What about Four? I know it's expensive but for a small group you might be able to get some sort of deal? I was going to suggest Rosewood as well. Also, what about the Lessings place in Huntington? Finnegan's?
I haven't been to Four - how is it? I picture a club-like atmostphere - and that's not what I want for my RD. Is that an appropriate estimation? FMIL and my mom have met - but FFIL hasn't met any of my family, and FH's grandparents will be there too, and they haven't met any of my family either ... so I want something a little intimate, or that is at least quiet enough to promote conversation ... would Four allow this??
Four is not going to give you that at all. It's 'trendy' and what not...the food is good, but if you are looking for more intimate not the place. What about having the RD at the Fox Hollow? Their menu at the Rose and Hunt is amazing...and I'm sure you could talk to your banquet manager and they could set you up with something.
That's an idea .... if we were going to have other folks there, like OOTers, I would want the RH to be a 'surprise' in a way .. but being that it's just immediate family, it might work.
Did you sister and her coworkers get the cookies I sent her? Did she mention it? They were soooo nice to me and Dutchie that I felt that I had to do something special for them.
Actually they did get them and everyone loved them...unfortunatly Kimberly got the crumbs!!! They loves Dutchess, thought she was a sweetie!!! I've been meaning to let youknow that but I've just been overwhelmed. The entire staff loved them...I guess that mean someone has to buy me the KitchenAide Mixer off my registry so I can make my sister cookies!!!!!!!! I took it off my registry because both stores that I am registered at has a 8-10 week wait on the cobalt blue one!!!
Someone just bought my mixer from BBB! No idea who, because my shower invites have NOT gone out yet as far as I know!!!
And I am upset to hear Kimberly did not get any cookies!!!! Her name was first on the card, they should have saved her a few!!!!
They are the best cookies in the world - Cheryl and Co. AWESOME.
So glad they loved my baby. She was a mess after she was there --- I think the new place, plus her having her only dog friend here for a few days after that, screwed her up .. she was having accidents (all kinds ... ) in the house for weeks. But she is all good now, back to her normal self.

I just came back. I just printed one each of our menu and ceremony program. LOVE them. I'm awesome.
Yeah, Bon - did have her shower in the back room at Meehan's. It's seriously perfect for 13-15 or 20 people. They even have a little bar set up. If it's a good price, I say look no further.
Only drawback - parkings a bitchh.
I love you ladies!!!! We're DEFINITELY having drinks after the weddings.
Why wait until AFTER the weddings? (Well maybe we will have to wait until YOURS is over, Ms. 14 days.) You are holding my soap hostage, too, and I am not waiting until FRIGGIN NOVEMBER to get it.
I will go check out Meehan's soon! Is the room the shower was in the one that is to the right of the bar? I know there is a section that sorta like a separate room in the back of the bar ... but it's not closed off, just is a step up ... are either of these the areas you are talking about? FH's reunion was in the private room I think, and there was like 60 people there, if not more, from what he said. (There was 60 people at least at the after party, at someone's house, which I went to!)
Or is there another room I don't know about???
Parking isn't soooo bad. I work in the village and there are 3 parking lots within a 5 min walk ... parking on the street definitely ***** ....

'Off the wall' restaurant in huntington village has a nice private room good for small to medium sized groups in a nice intimate atmosphere. The food is very good. It is past the movie theatre on the corner of a small strip mall and it has valet parking.

Off the wall is actually not off the wall anymore. It was under construction / having renovations for a while, and it may have opened, not sure. I think it's a seafood place now. But I loved it there, was like an upscale bar, never had to worry about meatheads there .... I'll check out the new place when it opens, thanks!

What about the Wantagh Inn? Or Oak Chalet in Bellmore?
Wantagh Inn might work! Do they have a room?

I'm not sure if they have a room, but if you have it on a Thursday night...say anytime before 9, you should basically have the dining room to yourselves.
ETA: And the food is good!

That's a shame about off the wall! Geez I guess I haven't been done that way in a while I live in fort salonga lol! Its a sad day when a meat head free joint shuts down. I love cafe buenos aires the best personally - no private room but they can do large parties. I have been there a handful of times and its always absolutely amazing. The owner is this savvy chic looking argentinian and there are mostly cute male waiters hahaha! They cook meat and seafood to perfection and their ravioli melts in your mouth! Sorry I could go on and on about this place lol!

The owner of that place is my friend's friend's dad! (I met the daughter a few times, don't know her well.) I have been meaning to try it - I heard it's great!!!
