Planned parent hood needs to get their act together..

So I called about a month ago to make an appt to get BC pills..fine..the lady told me it would be $40 for a consultation and 6 mth supply of pills and then after the 6mths it would be $20 a month. I called today because I had a question about my birth certificate and then I wanted to confirm the info. the other lady told me...WELLL she told me thats wrong, its $40 for a consultation and $20 for each pack of pills...grr...I knew it was too good to be true. But they need to get their information together...vent over..

However, 20 bucks a pack isnt bad either..I just think its wrong that they are giving me different info.

Doesn't your insurance cover this?

Yep. You can do a consultation for $40 (just to talk with the Dr.) or you can get a pap, HIV, STD test and exam for like $150..then they provide you with the pills.

That is totally wrong, it's not a bad price though I have health insurance and my co-pay for non-generic meds is 25 so that isn't to bad.

Its just a consultation..just to talk, and the lady told me its with an actual Dr. I thought it was with a nurse.. and then $20 a pack..not bad.

so when you finisnh a pack , do u have to keep going to the doc for the bc everytime.

i used to get bc pills from then many years ago and they were super unorganized then. sad to see that hasn't improved!!!

Something like that just happened to me!! But it was with BM dresses -- one of my bm's was concerned about the price of the gown so my MOH called around to check out if stores covered it for cheaper and one place told her $145. We were ecstatic!! Then she got that 'too good to be true' moment and called and spoke to someone else. This person said that was the price they got it for -- but they charge $300 for it!!!! UGH! We were totally happy, then dropped on our butts! People should honor these kinds of things!

Yknow..I have no clue. Im pretty sure that you can get more than one pack tho..I will keep you updated...I have my appt on April 3rd...FM that day and I will tell you how it goes...

Me too- when I went on NuvaRing the Dr gave me 3 months worth of free samples, but I had to fill the actual Rx this week and I found out its $25 a month!

I had asked if they were similar in costs to other BC and she said yes- but I thought other BC was cheaper.

Oh well- I guess its a small price to pay for assurance

Yep. Same feeling I had. I felt sooo when she told me $40 for consultation and a 6mth suppy of BC, and now..I feel

Yknow..I have no clue. Im pretty sure that you can get more than one pack tho..I will keep you updated...I have my appt on April 3rd...FM that day and I will tell you how it goes...

when i went (to the one in brooklyn though) you had to go in after 3 months just to make sure everything was ok (no side effects, etc) then you just have to go in once a year for your annual. they usually give you a perscription for a full year. i did have to go to the place to pick the pills up though (i got them for free since i made no money and was under 21, so i had to go there to get the free ones) but they gave me 6 months worth at a time. my doc now works the same way, but i have to go to the pharmacy once a month to get it (i pay $10 a month for a generic brand).

I went to Planned Parenthood a couple of years ago and I was not happy with them at all. Very cold and no bedside manner. They just wanted to get the exam done and this was suppose to be my 1st time at the OB/GYN. I am now trying to looking for a really good OB/GYN. I agree with all of you in saying that Planned Parenthood needs to get there act together.
