Re: Planning

I hear ya... all I want to do is plan too. We got the hall and the church. That's about it so far. We are going to go with a DJ, just not sure who we will be booking. I would like to go with EJ the DJ only b/c somone I went to college with works with them. I have heard only good things.
The back yard wedding sounds beautiful. My cousin had that and it was such a great time!

Re: Planning

Wow you girls already booked your halls, I haven't started looking at any in person yet I have a question, did you have to put a big down payment down or just a small monthy payment. I feel so clueless about the whole process sometimes

Re: Planning

I had to put down $1500. There will be 3 much larger payments before the big day! It wasn't so bad and I think that I could have put it on a credit card if I needed to do that. Even for my DJ, photographer/videographer I only needed to put smaller down payments down.

Good luck! It's a lot of fun to plan, but very expensive!!

Re: Planning

I am concerned with getting the hall and the church. I feel like once those are booked I can really start doing more. I was bummed at first about 2008, but at least we will have more time to pay things off and plan. My fiance recently started a new job...he is a stock broker and he changed the office he works for. So he really wanted to be sure his job was secure and he could save money.

Re: Planning

I think we all feel the same way but I will give a lot more time to plan and save for the most special day of all. I got the hall and the church. I feel like I really don't have to do anything at the moment but start saving for everything else. Is anyone having an engagement party? We decided not to. My mom was looking around & everything was just so expansive. We sent out Announcements and got lots of cards. Some ppl even sent gifts.

Re: Planning

Did you see if they have a website? Nassau county has some nice places, don't know if you would want to go there.

Re: Planning

Once I get the hall and church booked and I feel like everything is not so up in the air...I want to send out save the date cards. We'd like to have an engagement party, but not really call it that. Just have our friends and family over for a big BBQ in the summer. I figure if people want to give a gift, they will whether there is a party for it or not. Let's just use it as a reason to get together and have fun!
BTW...can I ask what kind of pricing you got at Crest Hollow?

Re: Planning

My FH aunt works there so we actually got a really great price and a TON of things for free like two bottles of wine on the tables, tooling with lights hanging fromt he celling, longer cocktail hour, and a few other things. I didn't think all the little things that you would want could be so expensive, but it is! I believe they gave it to us or 86 a head.

The hall is beautiful though. I would check it out.

Re: Planning

The place looks nice! I know what you mean about family in FL. My FH parents live there and most of my family lives there. We thought about getting married in FL, but then all our friends would have to fly down! ...This little face really says alot...no matter what someone has to fly somewhere! I am keeping one thing in mind-you can't please everyone so just please your self!
