Planning

Hey Guys

I am new to the website, I got engaged in April 30 and the date for the wedding is set for April 12th, 2008. How soon should I start booking halls and start planning everything.
Please some suggestions, because I have no ideas. I don't want to wait until the last minute.

Thanks

Congratulations! My piece of planning advice to you is if you have that date set in your mind and are not negotiable, you better start planning NOW. I know it seems so far off but dates book fast. I went and found my hall first. Then, I contacted my church to clear the date before I booked anything. When everything matched up, I was good to go. I booked my hall and church 22 months in advance. That was in the beginning of this year and some of the dates I wanted for late 2007 were already booked, so definitely get that squared away. Good luck!!

well if you can wait, it would be awesome to save for a year, and then plan for a year....a year is PLENTY of time to plan! however, my fiance and I planned right away...we got all our deposits done & EVERYTHING booked...so since november we've just been gradually paying things off. We're almost completely paid up now with 4months to go and we're stress free! to each is own i guess.... my FSIL saved first and then planned and she wouldn't have had it any other way. It is entirely up to you!

First...congrats!! There's a 2008 brides board on here too.

You must decide on a budget FIRST before anything, and find out who's paying for what. (If family members plan on contributing.) Then start a preliminary guest list, to get an idea of just how many ppl you will want to invite. Trust me, it's always more than you realize! that way you can start looking at halls knowing that you can pay no more than $ XX.XX amount (with tax & tip, never forget that!) and that you need a place to hold XX amount of people.

we booked our hall nearly 2 yrs. before the big day. but that's cause we knew we'd need a long time to pay for it, and wanted to know for sure how much we were looking at!

you can always start researching and then visiting after that!

I'd suggest booking your reception hall and/or church as soon as possible in order to make sure you get the date you want at a place you'll love.
Then you can relax a little and take your time a little more with the rest.

This was exactly what I was going to say. Book your hall and ceremony spot first!
