planning a ny wedding from florida...HELP?

Can anybody tell me how the glen cove mansion is?
How's the food especially?
I'm looking for a decently priced venue with good food.
Is that hard to find?
My sister had her reception at Russo's...which I love.
It's beautiful and it had amazing food.
Is there places like that on long island?

Prices for halls range depending on the time of year day and time of day. Your best bet is to call them and let them know you're calling from Florida and want to know what time of year is in your price range. Just go low so they can tell you the off months!

I agree. Russos in AMAZING!

I planned from SC, moved to NY about months before the wedding...it can be done. Granted I had some help with a planner.

If you are looking for particular kind of venues search the boards, under the vendor link you will find a link to reception halls. Most links will show you what the venues look like so you can gauge if you like it or not. If you have intentions of coming to NY to visit then you can make appts to see the venues that you are really interested in.

Good Luck, its tough but it can be done

There are sooooooo many beautiful venues on long island!!!!!!!!! as you can see from all of us talking about them lol....
Some of our favorites are:

Giorgio's (that's where we are getting married... i love the atmosphere and then the FOOD sold us completely)
Venetian Yacht Club
Oheka Castle(but it can get very pricey)
Westbury Manor
Jericho Terrace
Majestic Gardens

I too, am planning from FL. Are you originally from FL, so you arent familiar with the RH's? The places that were mentioned are very nice, it just depends on your budget and time of year.

Ive been to 2 weddings at Giorgios...the room is gorgeous, chandeliers, view of the gold course etc.

One in July, the food was very good, CH did NOT have enough seating for guests and its very squished. Otherwise it was fabulous!

The other one we went to in October was the same as far as CH being very squished, the food shockingly was not so good. Maybe it was an off ay for them but we could barely eat dinner, and the others at our table were the same way. Everything else was good. Staff was great and the VH was AWESOME!!!

I'm also planning a wedding from out of town, but Boston is definitely closer than Florida! This board has been so helpful though, so don't worry about it!

The Glen Cove Mansion is beautiful and the food is fabulous, but it is also one of the more expensive RHs on Long Island. My cousins both got married there and I loved it, but I can't afford it and also want something different instead of redoing their weddings.

Definitely check it out and if you want more info, forum mail me and I can send you pictures from one of their weddings. Actually, my picture for my profile is at that wedding!
