Planning Review
Well everything has seemed to happen so quickly! We were engaged on 02/24/08 and by 3/4/08 we already booked our RH - by the following week we had our DJ, the next week our Photographer/Videographer and my dress and MOB dress ordered somewhere in between all of that craziness.
Venue
We went with VYC in Babylon Village on the water. I met with Giulio at the RH - I wanted to check out the RHs first by myself because I wanted to make sure that I was treated right while shopping - not just the day of. I met with Giulio and he made me feel like such a princess - (I must say what a nightmare the other RHs were). My FH was absolutely impressed with how well he treated me that without him checking out ONE RH he went there and left the deposit. The views are beautiful - the way they set up the rooms - they have hospitality hour while we are getting ready for the Ceremony with passed cocktails as guests arrive - and I cant tell you how excited I am. We went over the food and most places that I saw you had recieved the menu and they tell you like 4 from column A and 3 from B (for cocktail hour) At VYC we dont have to choose!!! They are giving us everything!! :) - The prices were so competitive and the views were breathtaking! Check it out if you havent already booked anything!
Photographer/Videographer
We went with Golden Moments in Mineola - They are Amazing!! We met with Dan and Pat - They are definately a comedy team. I felt completely at east with them, which was really important for me (My FH was married already and he stressed how important it is to have a photographer and videographer that you get along with well). I felt like I had known them for years. Their work was done so professionally and the shots that they had taken were exactly what I was looking for.
DJ
Booked Spin Around Sound - Tom White is the owner - we booked him as our MC - so down to earth and easy to relate to - he is extremely organized - which I am OVER THE TOP organized - he definately was close to me
- Not only were his prices great - he put me at ease, knowing that he WAS NOT going to send 2 19 year olds to DJ our wedding that we were getting a company that has been around for many years, he takes such pride in his work - I got the impression that he would put as much effort into my wedding as he would his own.
Flowers
We booked Flowers by Burton, we shopped Loven Oven with one of my BM - she is using them for her wedding that is in January at FlowerField. Keyth was great and very creative with what he was putting together. At the end of the day they are flowers. They are going to last a few hours - I cannot see myself spending a fortune on flowers. Many of the florists that I shopped were telling me that depending on the month, some flowers are more expensive than others, but that is not the case I come to find out. I met with Bobbi at Flowers by Burton - and she was extremely aggressive with her pricing and on our contract it is written that we can have ANY FLOWERS WE WANT for the same price. I dont have to worry about how expensive Calla Lilies are VS cheaper flowers. Definately shop them. They are a wholesaler and their prices were so much less than anyone else.
I booked my dress - Let me tell you what a NIGHTMARE it was.
I had a dream of a time with Burtons Bridal with Carole. But in order to find my dress, I went with a girlfriend dress shopping at Paradise Bridal (go there if you dare - LOL) The woman that I worked with was great - except she didnt listen - my BM finally pulled stuff off the rack and found my dress for me. The sales girl had to leave at 3 - I was standing on the pedestal and she was walking out the door with her bag over her shoulder saying she would take 10% off the tag - I was floored. There I was with my mom, aunt, and BM on the pedestal with the dress on and the sales girl left us because she had to leave at 3. Well needless to say, after an hour of trying to find a tag inside this dress with my BM, i was able to find the designer and surfed the internet to find the model number. Paradise Bridal was willing to sell me the dress for $1280. I called Carole at Burton's Bridal and without hesitation or negotiating she was able to order my dress for $700. How can you beat it. THE SAME DRESS. Also - Paradise has a little extra cost that they dont tell you about in the beginning - they charge $225 for alterations - for the bodice, bustle and hem - Burtons only charges for the bustle and them hem - because none of these dresses are perfect - they all need to be tailored to a woman's body. Take the time to make the call to Carole - you definately wont regret it.
Im probably forgetting some stuff :) I wanted to get out as much as I could now![]()
