i was looking into hotels in the poconos for the weekend, cause im off monday for presidents day, but i guess they jacked up the prices cause of the holiays....
so plan b might be to go to the melting pot and get a hotel somewhere around there, and hit up some bars and have a night away...
so we aren't sure what we are gonna do...
what are your plans?

what is buddakan?
its our favorite restaurant, i absolutely love it. Its in the meat packing district in the city. The first time we went there i swear with each bite we kept saying how amazing the food was, which has been a long time i went somewhere and was like that, ill think its very good but this was beyond that. The place is gorgeous too, oh wait if you have seen the sex and the city movie then its the place where carrie had her e-party, she had it at the huge table on the lower level of the restaurant. Its a cool table its right in the middle of the lower level and from the upper level you can see that table. Before i took dh there last year for the first time, Tao used to be his favorite restaurant but i was so shocked when he said buddakan was better. I was thinking of maybe doing Tao instead for his bday since we've gone to buddakan a few times in the past year and he hasnt gone to tao in a little but now sure
We'll probably just be home doing last minute things since we're getting married the next day

they call it that bc it used to actually be the meat packing district. There were tons of those meat shops, you know how you see it in the movies, those huge places where you walk through those freezers with tons of meat hanging and that sort of stuff. Of course now its turned into a trendy place but seems like any place that used to be all warehouses or like in this situation a meat packing district, they all changed and its trendy now

also how is there pricing?
before i went i had heard it was very expensive but i was pleasantly surprised to tell you the truth. We went to buddha bar a few months before and buddha bar was double the price, and i had thought buddakan would be even more pricey but it wasnt.
The portions are family size BUT nothing like italian family style lol. Most trendy asian fusion places have tiny portions so for them they consider it family style. Most app's were lets say on average $10-12 each, maybe just a few that were a little more or a little under. Most entree's were in the 20's range, such as $22-26 on average.
I remember the first time i went i was a bit nervous but we got ALOT and for what we got it wasnt bad
we had ordered 3 app's, 2 entree's that dh and i both shared those since it was family style. 2 desserts, dh got a bottle of sake which was $50, but at first he had 1 or 2 scotches and i had about 2 bacardi's and diet cokes plus regular coke. All that came out to $200 and thats bc dh had to order a freaking $50 sake bottle bc otherwise it wouldve been $150, plus we normally dont get dessert but this time we did.

You're welcome, and i definitely recommend this place. Yeah i didnt think it was bad either, ppl made it seem like it was gonna be way above average but entree's in the 20's range is about average so it was fine, plus the service was always great. Waiters were SOOO nice and helpful, i hate if you go to a trendy place and waiters and staff are snotty.
Whenever ive made reservations, ive done it a week or more ahead of time so keep that in mind. If you do want it for vday i would call now just to guarantee it lol

I love carmines but sometimes you can wait forever for your table, well depends what time or day you go. Ninja is also real cool and VERY different, they take you down the elevator and they designed it like a ninja castle and everybody or group of ppl gets their own room. Plus there are surprises and different cool tricks they do. I will say that this place was a bit pricey. They have 4 options you can do which is 4 courses, small though and ranges from $60-90 pp but of course the $90 will have more food. Although when i went there were 8 of us and everybody was getting lots of bottles of wines, so many drinks and i had only 2. And we split the bill evenly so for me i was like W** i didnt have that much to pay this much but thats what happens when everybody else is drinking and you split the bill. If it wasnt for all the drinks it wouldnt have been as bad
The experience of it is good and its different but as far as food other places are better, its good but now wow
