Re: Please be honest..

No way and this is coming from a person who loves her FMIL.

I would, if it was a separate apartment. FH and I live in a two family house with MY parents now, and its not so bad because we are separated and have our own space, but if we were together, NO WAY!!
If you asked my FH this question, I'm sure he would give a totally different response

Re: Please be honest..

when i was in college i had to take a summer class, and since i am from CT and went to school in NY I had to stay around here. there was no way i could afford housing, so FILs offered to let me stay w them.

worst.decision.ever.

my life was not my own, i had to be home for dinner, i had to work around their shower schedule, there were times when FH wasnt home cause he was working, so I was alone w them. it was just awkward. granted it was 7 years ago, but still.

I love them too much to live with them (if that makes sense)

I live next door! That is way too close as it is! So my answer is no! I feel couples needs their privacy and no matter how cool FMIL is they never are able to give you the space you need while in the same house!

I know you are all going to think I'm crazy, but we're going to live with my future ILs for a few months before the wedding. We'd be able to save about $15K just by living there, so it really was a no brainer. They are super sweet people... they're like my own parents. They treat us great and are so happy that we're going to be living there. I think the situation will be fine and I keep telling myself that it's only 4 - 5 months of my life... I can handle that!!!

Re: Please be honest..

FMIL offered for FH and I to live with them for 6 months - 1 year after we get married so that we can save $ and I was all up for it but FH was def not. Now that I think about it, it's probably a good idea that we're NOT going to live with them b/c that could ruin our relationship

i personally don't think its good to live with family. But if we had to I dont think it would be a problem.

Re: Please be honest..

My FMIL moved in with her inlaws when FH was 5. She told me it was the WORST mistake of her life.
The house never really felt like her home. Even after FH's grandparents died, she still didn't feel like the house was her home.

Re: Please be honest..

I basically did.
I slept over FH's house everyday for 2 years.
My FMIL is very cool though and she speaks broken English.

I do love her though :)
