First, don't stress about this. You do have some time to decide. Find a photographer that does both. We are using 12th night photography and they do both. Check them out!

Maybe you should try and find a photog who has a traditional photographer AND an assistant or 2nd photog who can take the more photojournalistic 'artsy' shots. That way you get the best of both worlds! Definitely don't settle just because your family used them. Wait until you find someone who's work YOU love. Photos are the only concrete lasting memories of your day, you don't want to regret it.
I agree whole heartedly with this. I'm sending you FM re: Proline

I dont really have a comparison but I went to Kornfeld and ************* and Kornfeld came in cheaper with a better package! I have no reference in comparison to studios like Imagine or Thomas Paul. Does anyone have numbers and what the package entails?
Hey ~ This is your wedding and you are your own individual with separate tastes. If you met with the studio and still aren’t satisfied def make appointments to meet with other photogs so as to make a wise, well informed and above all decision you will be comfortable with. This choice is something you will remember for the rest of your marriage so focus on your experience & no one elses. What might be wow to you might be eh to someone else – otherwise we would all book the same photographers
With that being said – since you previously mentioned that you wanted a mix of traditional, candid and photojournalistic I will go ahead and recommend our photographer – Lighthouse Photography. I was blown away by first and foremost the quality of their photos it is truly something you have to see in person, I was simply amazed by the stylistic photography both traditional and modern – and judging by the albums they really have a keen sense of tailoring and capturing the couples personalities. We made sure to see all our options and honestly their pricing blew everyone out of the water but asides from that the quality is what really made our decision and the connection with the photographer. To give you an insight as to package pricing comparison: The Instyle digital package StArTs at $2395 – this includes - Photographer coverage for 10 hours - bride and groom album 60 images 10x10, two parent albums, online gallery password protected, deluxe proof album approx 500 photos, one 4x6 brag book with 10 photos, 75 designer thank you cards with envelopes and shared rights to all your photos. I’m sure he could provide additional or package pricing for the 8x10s and individual photos etc. His non-digital options start at $795. Best of luck. Hope this helps.
Imagine studios Package A pricing starts at $3800 (according to what they sent me) they do great work but I didn't meet with them based on the initial starting point of negotiations. I have heard great things about Duet pricing and Thomas Paul so they are also worth checking out.

They are totally willing to do a mixture but I am freaking out. Are their pictures really just 'eh'???
You said you liked them but that your friend thought they were 'eh.' What you and FH like is the only opinion that matters. DO NOT let other people influence your decisions or make them for you - this is your day!

julesbrf is right. don't let other people have a say in your decision, if you love them, go for it. it's your weddng. but if you are 2nd guessing yourself, take a look at other photographers. We used Franklin Square Photography and they were absolutely amazing. My brother used them in 2007 and they were the only photographer that we met with. I can't tell you enough good things about them. I loved them. If you want specific package info, feel free to FM me.

I had the same problem! I kept looking at these beautiful traditional looking shots then seeing these very edited fashion magazine like photos and feeling very confused. I took a break from it for a month then looked again and the choice was clearer. I decided I didn't like the very edited look, and I liked the more natural looking photojournalistic shots. I realized I didn't want to be posed in a position that I would never wind up in on my own. Don't let what other people want change what you want. If you like the traditional then go with traditional! Don't chose something just because other people are or it's trendy. I just kept thinking what do I like now and what will I like looking back on years from now.
