But what exactly happens at a trunk show?
There's one next week for a designer I'm interested in and I want to go but don't know what goes on there..

I never been to one but I belive that the designers sell the sample gowns at a discounted rate

Usually the actual designer is at the show. She/he is able to make any adjustments to their gowns. The gowns are usually being previewed (from the following season). And, they are usually offered at 10% off.
I went to a trunk show at which the designer sat with me and discussed what I would want different on her existing gown - straps, pick-ups, etc.

I just found out today that a store in Manhasset is having an Alvina Valenta trunk show and I LOVE the new fall line. I tried calling the store today to get info but they're closed.
The new fall line is gorgeous.
