Please give me some info about engagement portraits

Has anyone gotten engagements portraits? I was told that your wedding photograper usually does them but I'm so far from booking my photographer and want portraits soon. Any advice?

i guess i feel that engagement portraits should be done sometime around the time you get engaged. are you waiting

usually you get them included with what you get when you book your photography. I am sure that you can set something up with any photographer-but they will charge you. Do you know if you want them done in a studio or outside?

We booked the photographer then scheduled our engagement shoot. It doesn't have to be done around your engagement.

is there a purpose for the engagement photo?? my FH and i didnt even discuss getting on. do we need one?

We are getting one. But its included in our photo package. Other wise I am not sure if we would have done one.

I was thinking about this, too. The pic that I have on my profile is actually the picture the waiter took at the restaurant where my FI proposed. Although it's not a professional pic, I like it and am using it as my official 'unofficial' engagement picture. I think if it's important to you to get it done that you should consider getting one taken professionally. If it's not that big of a deal but you want one of you and your fi to send to people, then I'd ask someone you know who's good with a camera to take one for you!
