I have 7 months until my wedding. My mom right now is battleing cancer, but wants to order her dress. She said it would make her happy. My only problem with this is my mom in the past few months has lost almost 60lbs due to her illness and continues to do so. She will be having surgery in a few weeks to remove the tumor. What do you think should I go with my gutt and have my mom wait til the summer when she is more stabalized or let her go pick out a dress so she will be happy? TIA

have her try on dresses... pick one out, but delay ORDERING it until the summer...
then she can be happy, and still get a dress in her size!

I say take her shopping for a dress. That will make her happy and take her mind off of things. Try to do whatever you can to make her happy about the situation And as the previous poster mentioned, maybe try to delay the ordering...........

I would say take your mom now to get a dress. Whatever makes her happy in this hard situation is wonderful. If the dress is to big later on. I am sure you can get it altered.

I agree with all of the Ladies, take your Mom to look for her Dress. It's sounds like she wants thing to be as normal as possible... This will take things off of her mind.

I say take your mom dress shopping. If she sees something that she really likes, you can order it or delay ordering it until the summer when she is feeling better. Believe it or not just going shopping may lift your mom's spirits, if she is feeling up to it you can make a day of it and go to lunch or go for a manicure. You and your mom are in my prayers

Definitely take her shopping! If this is what she wants and will make her happy then thats what you have to do. But maybe just delay ordering it like some of the other girls mentioned... you never know..after they remove the tumor she could start gaining some weight back...or depending on what meds they give her, she might also gain some weight.
