please help...
I need advice:My fiance and I are having a hard time coming up with a guest number. I recently lost my father after a long illness. We were very close. I don't really want to have a big big wedding. Its going to be very hard on me not having my dad to walk me down the asile or have our dance. I was hoping for a smaller wedding, say around 100 people or less. I have a big family, but wasnt planning on inviting everyone. My fiance's family feels they need to invite every member of their family or feelings will be hurt. They also don't understand my feelings. They feel my fiance deserves his big day as the groom and I would be taking this away from him. Also they feel a 200 person wedding is small. So, Im looking for advice please. What should I do? I want him to have a special day, but i don't want to be feel lost in a crowd of people I have never met on a day that will be wonderful ( because Im marrying the man i love- but sad during certain parts because something is missing.)

I've heard what your FI's family feels, but what about your FI? Does he understand your feelings? Does he feel like he will be missing out on something if you have a smaller wedding? If he understands your feelings and will be happy with the smaller wedding, then don't worry so much about what his family thinks. Your wedding is about the two of you. Just make sure that FI doesn't share his family's lack of understanding and desire for a huge wedding. So sorry to hear about your dad. I'm sending you hugs

im sorry about your father
.. How does your fiance feel about having all those people??? If he wants the extra people(and you dont know them) then his parents should throw you an engagement party so that you can meet everyone before the big day..I would say to compromise in the middle...

Re: please help...
What about having a really small ceremony and reception (like just your immediate family) and then have a bigger party on another day.

First I'm sorry about your Dad.
We are having a small wedding we invited 60 and fifty are coming. But to help ease all the 'hurt' family we had a large engagement party last summer in the backyard. all the people thta we would have invited to the wedding came but it was cheaper b/c it was a pool/b-bque party.
I think that if you both agree to a small affair people willunderstand. I have wonderful friends who are coming to my shower even though they aren't invited to the wedding. Some people will surprise you with their love and support!!!
