Hi girls. I am so sad. I got my area rug for our bedroom and my family is saying it looks stupid because so much of it is hidden under the bed. Iy only comes out about a foot on both sides of the bed. So now I am thinking of bringing it back and getting two runners, one for one side of the bed and the other for the foot of the bed. The other side of the bed is really close to furniture so it doesn't make any sense and the head of the bed is up against a wall. Do people do that. We have a small bedroom and with the furniture there is not a lot of hard wood floor showing to begin with, so I don't want to completely cover the hard wood floors. But I think an area rug gives the room a little class. What do you girls think I should do... My sister thinks I should just return the rug and forget the area rug altogether. Opinions, please. I know its hard because you can't see the room. Maybe I can take some pics tomorrow.

I understand that you want to show off the floors...but true area rugs...are supposed to cover most of the floor...or an area...
have you tried turning the rug the other direction to see how that would look?

Yeah, if I turn it the other way it is completely hidden. I don't know what to do. I really just wanted a little bit to peek out on teh sides of the bed. the middle of the rug is plain anyway, its the edges that have the design, but everyone is telling me i am hiding a rug and its not worth it becuase of what I paid for the rug, etc.

we put runners around our bed and it looks fine! we have 2 runners vertically and then a bigger area rug by the foot of the bed. it looks great. we live on the 2nd floor of a 2 family house so we needed to carpet every thing. this was a good alternative to full carpeting.

No, that is the biggest size this particular design comes in (5X8). I am just going to consider getting the runners, we will see.

Our rug peeks out about a foot on either side of the bed, and maybe a foot and a half at the end of the bed. We just wanted to have something to walk on when we got up. I don't think it looks dumb.
Don't listen to what other people say. If YOU like it, then so be it. It's your place, right?

I hate it when other people tell you how to decorate your home! If you like it and are happy with it, I say keep it the way you want it. Is your sister planning on sleeping in your bedroom? Really, do whatever makes you happy and tell everyone else that you are fine with it and that's all that matters.
It really chaps my hide when people do stuff like that and upset someone with their unsolicited opinions about things with which they have nothing to do!

That is the way we had it originally, peeking out about a foot on each side and a foot at the end of the bed. However, because its not a big rug, it only went up to about the middle of the bed. Not the head of the bed. Does yours do that?
Then we moved it so its perfectly centered under the bed and still comes out on the sides, but now doesn't come out at the foot of the bed.
Oh the problems..................................... :)

Ok we didnt tell Denise how to decorate her house. She told us to come over and look at the rug and her curtains, I gave her my honest opinion which is what I thought she wanted. I told her it was nice, but I didnt see the point since more then half of it was covered under the bed, and she has beautiful floors.
I didnt come out of my face and tell her oh my god I hate it. She asked!@

Well, as long as you asked for the opinions, I retract my chapped hide statement! BUT, Denise, it's really up to you. If you like it, leave it. If you think that maybe it's not exactly what you want, change it. I still say that it's your bedroom and you should do what makes you happy.

We have on that just barely peaks out fromm under our bed and that was exactly what we wanted. We had our hardwood floors done when the bought the house and in my last place the bed literally had worn half a hole into the hardwood We did not want this to happen to a brand new finished floors so we put a rug under the bed, but not coming into the room so you can see the floors better.
I would keep what you like and pooh on them for making fun of you
