Please help a clueless woman! LOL

I need opinions. I want to highlight my hair..well chunk it or streak it whatever its called. Im getting my hair cut tomorrow and I want a something even a little more different but I refuse to pay the prices they ask at the salon.

Has or does anyone know of a good boxed one? I messed up big time once with dying my hair and I need something fairly easy and true to the color on the box. Has or does anyone do this??

Any suggestions please!

I did it once at home and it was SCARY

I wound up paying a ton more than I would have if I had originally gone to a salon just for corrective coloring.

So now, I leave it to the professionals!!

I can't sleep so I thought I'd add my .02¢
Whatever you do, DO NOT use the Feria kit with the little plastic brush that is like a barbie brush. My sister used it and her hair came out terrible. None of the bleach made it to her roots and her hair was so blochy. She had to get her hair done the next day at the salon, it cost her an arm and a leg, and instead of blonde highlights, she ended up with a full head of blonde hair with red low lights that they added. It looks nice, but totally un natural, and not like highlights but a dye job. Anyway, the point of the story is don't use the feria, try the kits with the caps with the holes, they turn out better. (in my experience) Or, save yourself the headache and go to the salon :)

I get my hair highlighted at the salon, but sometimes I get a half-head highlights which is cheaper than a whole head. Since the above advice seems to say don't do it at home, maybe that's an option to think about.
