PLEASE HELP!!!! Church issue!!!

Hi Ladies,
I am trying to find a church near my RH. I would like to get married at my church but it is an hour away from the RH. However the churches I have been calling are telling me they only marry 'registered christainers'!!! I dont know what to do.
I want to be married in a church, I really dont want to be married at my RH. HELP!!!

a lot of churches are very particular about who gets married there. is getting married at your church not an option AT ALL?? is it your church or FH's? does any family have a church closer to the RH?

are you looking for a Catholic church?

This happened to me....kind of. I picked a church near my RH that said yes but the only time they had available was 10:30 am and my Reception starts at 8. So... no good.

I called EVERYWHERE! They all said no b/c I was not a member. So I am back at my parish, which is an hour away from the RH.

Funny thing is.... that was the only date & only time my church had. So we are seeing it as a sign.

You might want to go with your parish.

What denomination is the church that you are looking for? Also do a search of all the churches withing a couple of miles from your RH and start calling. Another option might be to speak with your BM and ask them if there are any churches that they can recommend for you in the area.

Try st Philips in Northport, St Anthonys in e northport and our lady queen of martyrs in Centerport. also you can go on the rockville center diocese site and they list the parishes so you can start calling.

I called St Philips and are waiting for their call back. I feel horrible. When I told one of the churches that I needed a church near my RH, they were not happy. So I didnt want to tell St. Philips that and now I feel like a lier. Oh I feel horrible!!!

I lied to my church and told them I didn't book my RH first.

Please don't lie to the Church!!! As bad as you feel, but that's def. a No No.

I'm in the same boat as you are. My reception is in Larkfield and I'm trying to find a Church near Larkfield or near us (we live in Bayshore). I have an appt. with St. Philip next week so I'm praying that all works out for us. I'm sure it will for you too...

We are in the same bad boat...I never realized how particular the churches could be. Whatever happened to everyone is welcome?

Re: PLEASE HELP!!!! Church issue!!!

I know what you are going through....Churches are VERY strict about these things.. My church is an hour away from the reception hall but I just decided I had to be married at my church.. A lot of people in my family complained when I told them that but I figure I am giving them a year notice, I think they can make travel arrangements for one day!!!!!

Don't be silly!!! You are NOT a bad person!! It will all work out in the end... In the meantime, try not to get too upset!

I wouldn't say that...it is stressful planning this whole wedding stuff. And, although it makes sense that they would like to you to be a part of the Church, it is frustrating when you're trying to put all the pieces together. Don't worry. Take a deep breathe and just see what happens when they call you back. Just explain your situation...I did and they were very nice to me. Now, if they 'accept' and give us permission to get married there would be another topic.

this is very frustrating. I honestly never thought finding a church would be this hard. I also never expected churches to deny you the right to get married in their church. I am trying to stay calm but the more I think about it, the more it irritates me. When I was on the phone with one of the churches, the woman couldnt understand why I wanted to get married there. When I told her that my church was too small (which is true!!!) She still didnt understand why and continued to ask me questions. When I told her my date she actually said...well Im not sure about that. She said that the church was very far from where I live. Thats true but I have family coming from the city, new jersey everywhere! Why does it matter what church I want to get married at?

Sorry for the long vent...I think Im more disappointed with the churches demeanor (sp) than anything else.

would you be willing to become a member at a church that is near your RH. So when you go to a church and ask for a date and see if you can get married there, also say to them that you are interested in becoming a member. I know somebody who did this to get married at a particular church. She became a member so she can get married there.
