Please help! First of the month wedding date?

Hi everyone I am new. My name is Jessica and my *fiance* proposed to me on New Years Day! (right after the ball dropped!!!!!!)

We're trying to set a wedding date and I'm hoping you can all help me. We started dating on July 1st and would love to get married on our anniversary but it won't be on a Fri/Sat/Sun again until 2011. We don't want to wait that long! Since we also got engaged on January 1st, we'd like to get married on the first of some month. We'd love to do 2008 since we feel like 2008 is 'our year' but don't know if we'll have enough time to plan.

The months in 2008 where the first falls on a weekend are:

Feb -- Friday
March -- Saturday
June -- Sunday
August -- Friday
November -- Saturday

While we'd prefer 08, the 1sts in 2009 are:

Feb -- Sunday
March -- Sunday
May -- Friday
August -- Saturday
November -- Sunday

How much time do you think we need to realistically plan a wedding? Are there any dates you would suggest or rule out?

First off, CONGRATS on your engagement and Welcome!!

Its not impossible to plan a wedding this year, however since a lot of girls book their wedding at least a year in advance, i'm sure alot of dates are booked. However, its best you just call around to the places your interested and ask if they have the dates available. Once thats done, start getting all the major vendors out of the way!! Music, ceremony, Photo/video, limos, flowers etc. Those book up way fast. Especially the good popular ones...

My FH has a cousin who planned her wedding in three months! It was beautiful and everyone had a good time. Personally I could never! Im a stress mess with everyday stuff so planning a wedding I think a year is good so not to be overwhelmed.
As for dates to be ruled out it all depends on what type of wedding you invision yourself having. I personally wanted a winter wonderland/ christmas themed wedding (FH and I love christmas decorations!). So that gave us only end of nov and all of dec. if you pictured a beach wedding then you would need summer months. So all thats up to you.

Thank you everyone. I don't know if I want winter or summer. I guess there is a lot we need to figure out. Maybe November 1st would be a good option if we can find a hall open on that date, or August 1st.

We planned a small wedding in 6 months (April 2007 - October 2007). We had about 65 - 70 guests at the George Washington Manor in Roslyn.

We will be engaged one year and five months from the time we got engaged to the time we will be married. I feel it was a good amount of time. I had time to slack off for the first 6-7 months and now I am getting everything in order and done!

You can basically do it as fast or slow as you want. When you want to get it done you will! There is a girl that has a post that she is getting married in one month!
And I have a friend that did it in two months! Anything can be done!
