please help!! groom NJ, bride LI

Original post by 040508Bride

Long story short, my ENTIRE family is from LI...my FH is from NJ. We are trying desperately to find a place (preferrably nassau county) that is on the water or on a beach.....we are both 'boat' people and this is super important to us. I'd love to have it at lombardis on the sound, but i think it is too far for his guests to travel. I am considering the surf club in new rochelle, but now that is putting my guests out of the way.........starting to freak out a little bit.....
ANY suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated :)

I would be most concerned with what you want. No matter where you have, the people you want there will come whether it is far or close to their house. They can always find accommodations nearby.

i know....to be honest, if it were up to me, the wedding would have been at atlantis marine world---but after FMIL flipped out because it was so far out on the island, i gave in and told her i would look elsewhere. soooooooo i looked. and looked and looked and looked. I went to brooklyn, NYC, queens, all over nassau--and i just can't find anything. the place i love the most is lombardis on the sound--it is beautiful and the food is phenomenal. soooooooooooooo it's in port jeff. a little further then she wants, but ya know what---it can't always be your birthday

It's your day so you should really have it where you really want. Everyone will make the travel so dont worry about them! FYI, I am getting married in New Rochelle (my family is from queens, Fi's from jersey so it was a perfect in between). I didn't think CLM was convenient for FI's side, but we looked into it. It was nice but for the exact same price, I got more at Fountainhead. You might want to check westchester out (depending on where your family is on the island). LIC is another good choice (i really wanted to get married at the Foundry but it was too small).
