So my friend keeps telling me I should send out engagement notices (keep in mind I've been engaged for a year almost). She's like if you send them out people will know you are not having a engagement party and those waiting on finding out if your having a party or not will send you gifts. I think she's nuts. What do you think? I think it's been way to long since and if anyone wanted to send anything they would have done it. Plus I don't want people to think that's the reason why I'm sending out a notice. I think it's tacky.... what do you think?

Hmmm I can see how you would be questioning this...I don't think people would thnk it was tacky...i think that anyone you would be inviting to a party if you were having one would love to send you a gift and this is a good way for them to know that there is not going to be a party ya know? lots of people wait for a party to send anything... what does FH think?

Do what you think is best to do..I mean sure word has gotten around you and your fh are engaged. But why not do something like save the date. I just got something in the mail and its from some magnet company and you get them printed up saying your wedding date AND on the magnet it says 'formal invitation to follow'. Just a thought-let me know if youre interested and I'll get the webpage :)

Personally, I would just do the save the dates when it's time and not send out an engagement announcement now. I wonder if people got them a year later if they would think you are looking for a gift.

maybe you can get STD that say something like 'he asked .. and she said yes ' with the date of the wedding and Formal invitation to follow.... because that would be like an engagement announcement and STD

That's a good idea! I just don't know if it's too early to send the STD's (wow when you appreviate that it looks so wrong) lol
I wouldn't want to send an announcement now b/c it's already been a year. We kept going back & fouth about a party and then his gma passed away over the holidays and now there is just to much to do in the summer.
Do you think it's to early to send the STD now?

Well...I honestly I agree with the ladies on the STD..But I wouldnt send them out until next year. But why dont u have an engagement get together this summer a cook out or something...Hey I feel like it's never to late for anything...ppl are always ready to party. I do not agree with ur friend about the gift part though JMO
