Please help, may be prego's

Original post by SPITSBRIDE

Well I am 4 days late for my period, I am feeling VERY weak and tired and think I have the flu. So I decided to take my tempature, it's 97.4 which is under normal...I did some research today I was reading early pregnancy symptons...to my shock one sign is a having a tempature below normal...OMG!!

I'm going to buy a pregnancy test now...

First, take a deep deep breath.

I'm assuming that you're not on the pill? and that a pregnancy is not desirable?

If that's true, then, since your last period, have you had a lot of stress? Anything unusual happen? I see you were married the 26th... I'm assuming that your last period was before then?

If so, take a deep breath. That kind of stress and excitement will definitely push your ovulation back a few days (which will push back your period). I'd be pretty surprised if you got it on time, to be honest.

And I'm pretty sure that having a low temperature is not a sign of pregnancy. I've been trying to get myself started on fertility charting, which includes using your basal body temperature to track fertility. your temp should go up around the time of ovulation, and go back down again afterwards. If you get pregnant, according to the books I'm reading, your body temp actually stays high postovulatory instead of going back down. I'm not sure where you read that about low body temps... but this is what this entire book I'm reading is based around, and this book is basically the go-to manual for fertility charting, so it's very creditable. (the book is called Taking Charge of Your Fertility, it should be in your local bookstore, if you want to look it up for yourself)

so, deep breath, and good luck!

I'd take the test. I work at an OB/GYN office. Worrying about it will cause more stress.
It might even be cheaper to go to your OB/GYN and have the test done there if you have insurance and you don't have a big co-pay. Just call them and ask if you can stop in for a preg test, it shoudn't be a problem, all they need is some pee!!

good luck... i was once a week late, which never happens, shelled out money for the test, tested negative, and got my period IMMEDIATELY after...

That happened a few times with me, usually when I'm under a lot of stress, often when I just moved and changed my enviroment (work or home.) Especially if I change with new woman (housemate or co-worker) at either place.

Same here...I am so stressed out with everything I am more like 10 days late. No worries this usually happens in times of wanting to run away and pull my hair out.

Is your period always on time? Do your boobs ache? Do you feel like you have mono? Totally exhausted? Maybe nauseas? If your late when will you test?

It could be the flu which is exhausting. Your period could be late due to stress. You 'll never really know though until you test

Let us know

BTW - they have tests that you can take 5 days before your missed period. If you are 4 days late ALL pregnancy tests should work at this point. Tests are pretty cheap. IMO youd be better off testing and knowing that waiting and worrying.

Take it from Ms. Neurotic herself researching symptoms on the internet for anything will only make your symptoms feel that much more real and make you that much more anxious and stressed out! I used to diagnose myself with everything under the sun and make myself NUTS! Hang in there!

Omg, is your name Jaclyn because you sound just like me and I make myself crazy!!

My period isn't always on time which is why I don't think I am...My boobs ache but they always do before my period and yes, I definitely do feel like I have mono.

I plan on taking the test this weekend (maybe tonight) so I will definitely keep you girls posted.

If you're 4+ days late, test!!! Once you're a day late it isnt too early to test. Use the clear blue easy digital test.

Thank you....

A pregnancy is not desired at this time because we would like a house first but of course if a baby is coming I will be BEYOND thrilled!!

As for the reading I did regarding body tempature I had done a search online and I saw it on a few websites.

Yes, I was married on the 26th and got my period prior to the wedding. I plan on remaining calm and will take a test this weekend, I don't want to jump the gun so we'll see what happens.

Thanks for the advice...

It may very well be stress, and that's why I think you should take the test. The longer you wait to do it, the more you will stress and the later your period will come. It's a vicious cycle. The sooner you get some information, the better.

I was once 7 days late, and I believe that stress was the culprit. I took a test on day 6 and got a 'negative' result, and while I was still anxious that the test might be wrong, I calmed down a lot. Two days later, it came.

I'm not trying to make it sound like taking test is a magic period inducer, but the more stress you can alleviate-- and worrying about this is a HUGE stressor-- the better it will be for your system overall, and more specifically, your cycle.

Good luck with everything...

ETA-- and I agree with whoever said not to get freaked out by pregnancy indicators listed on Web sites. I totally did that too. Most of the symptoms listed are vague, and a lot of them sound, to me at least, like the same ones you get when you are getting your period. You can drive yourself crazy with all that!

Good luck! Whatever that test says will be a blessing - either not pregnant b/c you're not necessarily ready or pregnant b/c a baby is always a blessing!
