Please help me decide!!! POLL - UPDATED THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP
I just called the animal shelter about a dog we put a deposit on. We have a dog already. When we did a meet and greet with us and our dog with the other one, our dog snapped at the dog once. They seemed ok otherwise.
When i called the animal shelter today they told me that the dog had a cold and we couldn't do another meet and greet with our dog until it was better. They gave us an option to take the dog and keep her isolated from the ours for a week or they would keep the dog there but it would take about 3 weeks for the dog to get better.
I don't know how my dog is going to react to another dog living in the house.
What should i do? DH says maybe we shouldn't take the dog because we would have to pay for a cage and the rest of the balance for the dog and if it doesn't work out then it was a lot of money that it cost us.
ETS: We ended up not getting the dog b/c we just found out that DH is going away for a month for training. He is the one who is home a lot to let out the dogs, etc. Now that he will be away for a month and i am working tax season (at least 13 hour days) we decided not to get the dog because it wouldn't be fair and it would be too hard taking care of two in that situation. I can take our dog to my moms but not two. I feel horrible about not getting the dog but it would probably not be fair leaving her 13 hours a day for a month.
