OK, so we want to have a summer 06 wedding & as you girls know, places book up pretty quickly. We already checked out Majestic Gardens, Jericho Terrace, Roslyn Claremont Hotel, & Windows on the Lake (which, I do not think looks as pretty in person, but that's jmo). I would have LOVED to be a FLowerfield bride, but it's out of our price range. I think we're going to look at a few more probably: --Carlyle on the Green --East Wind Estate --The Metropolitan
Are there any girls who have either been to, or had their wedding at any of these places?' So far, my FH & I love Jericho Terrace the most. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks everyone!! You were all right about Carlysle. So, I think it's down to JT, the Metropolitan or East Wind. But I think East Wind is like 40 minutes from me. I'd be coming from the Smithtown area.
I'm in Smithtown also. We wanted Nassau because it was a happy medium for our guests (My family is in Brooklyn, his friends are in Suffolk, his family is all OOT). Everytime we have gone to JT it was about a 30 min ride. But then again, I can get to Queens in 30 mins and Brooklyn in 45 mins, so take that for what it's worth!!
We have guests that will be coming from even farther away than us (Centereach and Stony Brook) and they are not complaining about the distance....yet.

I'm partial towards JT myself b/c I'm a JT bride to be! I think it's perfect, not too over the top but not your average run of the mill hall.

I was at the metropolitan yesterday and it is really elegant...it is very different, doesn't look like a catering hall...worth checking out! We are looking for summer 06 as well...probably late June...Good luck to you!!

East Wind. Great name, great food and always enough seating during the cocktail room.

I'm biased becuase I am a Metropolitan bride, but they really are wonderful there. 1 wedding at a time, the food tasting was like being at a fancy gourmet restaurant, and the site is really unique and different looking for LI. And they're reasonably priced. I have a Sat evening wedding in October and I booked at $110pp....

I'm further west than you are, but fell in love with East Wind. I decided that friends and family will just have to deal with the hour drive.
One of the women in my office has 3 kids who all got married at East Wind, and everyone that has attended some or all of those wedding has given it nothing but raves. The food tasting I went to before I booked was excellent, and my mom recently went to a luncheon there and loved it.

I SO wanted to have my reception at EastWind but it just wasn't convenient because it's so far from everyone.
I have been to a wedding at Carlyle (really nice!) and I even made an appointment to go look there for my own wedding but when I heard how many people you had to guarantee and how if you didn't meet that number you had to pay anyway, I was like forget it.

I am bias, but the Carlyle is an amazing experience, much different than a wedding hall, more like a mansion. Now the Met is very NYC very contemporary--really nice as well. I have never been to the east wind estate but many girls on here love love love it.

I'm getting married at the Carlyle, so that's my choice. The place is gorgeous and the service is fantastic. Although the time of year you're looking at is their high season, so it's going to be pricey.
I've been to a wedding at East Wind and it was fantastic. Great food and the ballroom was really nice.
Good luck!

Re: Please help me narrow down the Halls~
I'm completely biased towards the Carlyle as we had our wedding there and it was absolutely amazing. I have to disagree with a previous poster who said it looked a little worn around the edges? no way - it was a top notch, classy establishment. And one wedding at a time - very important to us.
We had people at our wedding who are having their son's wedding at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens (much much more $$ than the Carlyle) and after seeing what an amazing place it was and the service - they want to switch the wedding to be at the Carlyle.
I know that they can be pricey - but it all depends on the time of year and the day - as any other place is. We were charged $110 a person for ours (but we had a kosher wedding and i know that made it more per person) and they were very willing to work with us on everything.
Our minimum was 150. I'd say its not the place to have a small intimate setting though because the ballroom is so spacious and beautiful with the windows overlooking the grounds.
ok, i'll stop rambling about the Carlyle now..

Re: Please help me narrow down the Halls~
We checked out Metro and Eastwind. I liked both, but Eastwind was just too big for us (even at 150 guests, the room is HUGE) and the outdoor space at Metro is on the corner of two streets, not a lot of privacy. That said, Eastwind is elegant and I loved the sitting room area that looked like a library and Metro is cool because it's sooooo different from any other 'catering hall' you have looked at. If we were doing a winter wedding, we probably would have gone with Metro, it's very cozy.
Good luck!

Re: Please help me narrow down the Halls~
My FSIL got married at East Winds and it was perfect. They did an excellent job with everything. She got married in April, so the grounds weren't as pretty as they normally would be a few months later. But the food was excellent and everyone got served all at the same time (which is a big concern of mine).
I would have to say that my only complaint or thing that i didn't like for me personally was... the reception hall that she had it in had no windows i don't think. I like open space and not to feel closed in by 4 walls, which this was.
But otherwise, i would check it out, especially for the price. The price was excellent. Good luck!

Re: Please help me narrow down the Halls~
I got married at the Metropolitan and I could not have been happier with the service and the food and everything. FM me if you need any specific details. I also have a review over on the board.
I say this without hesitation you will not be sorry if you book there.
Edited to add picture. This is how the Metropolitan looked on our day.
Same here - Carlyle quoted me almost 200 pp, Flowerfield was about 170 pp (for a Saturday night in October).
To be honest, the Carlyle was pretty, but I thought it was looking a little worn around the edges... beautiful though!
I vote Carlyle. A bit pricey, but there is always room for negotiation.....especially if you were willing to play with different times of the year, days of the week, etc. BTW.....Not at all worn around the edges. I definitely did my research and looked at practically every place on LI, and would not have booked the Carlyle if I felt that way.
