My brother has Crohn's and was treated by Dr. Lowenheim. Hes probably a good drive from you if you're near garden city, as he is affiliated with Stonybrook, but we cant recommend him highly enough. Thanks to him my brother has been in remission for 4 years and not on any maintainance medication.

Re: Please help me - not wedding related.
Two things..
1) I would definitely find a way to tell your boss. Even if he doesn't understand you will better off with him knowing. It can't be worse than him thinking that you just take off because you don't feel like going to work.
2) I go to Dr. Palmadessa, he is in Douglaston. He is a really nice guy. I've gone a couple of times and my mother has been going to him for a while. FM if you want more info.
Good luck and don't let your FH stress you out.

I agree with Relish21. .as embarrassed as you may feel.. I think you need to tell your boss..especially if it is a matter of losing your job.. Maybe there is a way you can work from home. I'm sure they would be more understanding if they knew there was a serious medical issue involved.

Re: Please help me - not wedding related.
I know exactly how you feel, I have IBS and if it acts up before I'm supposed to go somewhere I can't go...and then what always happens is that once it passes I feel better and I missed whatever I want supposed to be at (work/class). I am always terrified to travel. I have a dr. that i saw a long time ago in huntington who I liked a lot although the medication he gave me didn't help. His last name starts with a B and he is on 25A. If you think it might be IBS try yogurt in the morning. I literally cured myself with that after being sick for years!

Thanks. I'm in search of a doctor, that is why I posted this here to see if i can get recommendations. FH doesn't want me to loose my job. That's why he gets like that. Thank you for your advise.
You really need to tell your boss or someone in authority at your job. This way they cant fire you as easy. I understand you are embarassed but better that then not having a job. Also, if your boss tells anyone else about your problem you go right over his head and make a complaint. Good luck and please for your own sake tell someone so they can document it.

I think you should definitely see a doctor.. he/she may be able to pinpoint certain foods that you can't eat. My sister got horrible stomach pains and she went to a bunch of doctors, she can't really have tomato sauce, spices, mints. She got tested for celiac disease also, basically whenever you have wheat products you get very sick, like how you described. I have problems sometimes too. I recently found out I am lactose intolerant because I would ALWAYS get sick after I had ice cream or milk. I think your nerves may be getting the best of you as well, like how you're fine in the house and the second you leave you get sick. That happens to me, when I start worrying and thinking 'OMG will I get sick? Will I make it home in time? etc etc'
I am so sorry, this ***** so much! GOOD LUCK
I agree, you really have to monitor your diet. I have similar issues - what may cause flare ups for some, may not for others. Also, stress is a huge factor in bringing on the issues as soon as you leave the house. You are stressing because you know what may lie ahead, if you cant get close to a bathroom. I lived this way for 2 years back in early 2000-02. Keep a food diary, and you will see trends - what bothers you more than not. A very bland diet, not high in protein or fat, and keeping low stressors in my life is what made it somewhat better. I took the rx NULEV, which melts/disintegrates in your mouth. It helped a bit.
Also, if you cant speak to your boss, I would recommend speaking to someone in HR and bring a doctor's note. that way he cant run his mouth off to other employees. Def speak to HR.

I bet if you got a note or told your boss they'd be more understanding that you have a medical issue and you're not just playing hookie... ya know?
ITA.. if you have a doctor's note your boss should be more understanding. The note doesn't have to state your medical condition.
Also, has your doctor ruled out Celiac dicease? It's often misdiagnosed as IBS. I know 3 ppl who has it and they all have different tolerances. It's a pretty popular dicease. My kids will probably have it.
Good luck!!

Re: Please help me - not wedding related.
I will try to get the name of my friend's doctor. Hang in there... I know it isn't easy, but you need to avoid stress and most dairy products..limit cheese. I hope you feel better soon.
