Please help me... paint question

Please help me... paint question

I need some more help girls. We just got our dining room set last weekend, it is the white washed wood. Well yesterday we go and get beige colored blinds (I did this so no matter what color I plan to put in there, it will match) and we planned on painting the walls an Antique Yellow color from Benjamin Moore. My sister is saying how everything will just blend together (no color) that way, and she is right. However, I love light colors. I am a country french/victorian type person. Don't like modern/black and white, etc. So I was thinking of adding color to the room by using a runner, placemats, pics on the walls, etc. We have a very open floor plan - living room, kitchen and dining room. So I wanted to do it all one color so it would flow. What do you girls think. Anyone out there with the same taste as me can give me some suggestinos, please....... Thanks so much. I am having soooo much trouble with this decorating thing, I could cry....

I dont have the same preferences as you but I will say taht yellow walls and beige blinds and white wood might look mismatched. As if they were put together b/c thats what you had available as opposed to intentional. If you like a light color scheme, why not make everything the same color?

I don't understand....

I think that instead of yellow and beige and white just all blending together nicely, its going to clash. (although its impossible to say without seeing it - it could look great)

If you want a monocromatic color scheme, I would suggest getting everything in different shades of the same color.

Oh that is good to hear, did you use any accent colors in the room to add some color or no?

Our furniture is the white washed finish (not white), its more of an orangy color wood. Light yellow walls, Antique Yellow its called. I love that color. Its like a vanilla icecream color. And the blinds are a beige color. Not as bright as white. I was thinking of adding purple in there as well (as far as pics on the walls, maybe an area rug, etc).

I know what you mean about the open floor plan, because we have the same thing on the main floor of our house .. and it sounds like we have a similar wall color as you.

We definitely have the same ideas .. I'd rather keep the walls neutral and work in color through fabrics .. that's alot easier to change than wall color .. so I'd rather use a timeless wall color than some fad.

Anyway .. could you add color with window treatments?? I know you said you have blinds, but maybe you could dress up your windows by adding a valance, or panels with tiebacks or something .. just to help keep everything from being too muted. But I certainly think you can bring color into your rooms with creative ideas.

Yeah that is what I am thinking of doing around the blinds, but I don't know how it would look.

Well thanks for responding. I will let you know what I do.

Really, where do you get that paint from? K-mart? ???

We were going to go with Benjamin Moore but if Martha Stewart is good.....
