I have have a date holding at the Beach Club Estate on Lake Ronkonkoma for 6/04. But now I am second guessing myself I am not sure if I want to have my reception there or not. but in saying that I have not been able to find anything else within the price range that I want to spend or for the amt of people I am having. I have to decide by tomorrow weither or not I am going to put a deposit down. If I dont I could lose the date. My Mom has offered to get on a plane to come out here from Ireland just to look at the place but I cant do that to her. Please help me I am stressing out! There are more pro's than con's but I cant make the decision. Has anyone else gone through this? My FH says its my decision as my Mom is paying for it.

Re: Please help me to decide
Ahhh, welcome to the world of wedding-planning!! You will second and third guess yourself on EVERY SINGLE decision that you make. That's 100% normal. Is there something about the place that you really don't like???

Re: Please help me to decide
Really the only thing I dont like is that the ceiling is low so when you walk into the room its looks small. But I think my biggest problem is just making the decision, that and I am afraid that people wont have a good time. I think I would find something wrong with every hall I go to. I know I sound picky but really I am not.

Re: Please help me to decide
whats your price range and # of people? Maybe we have some additional suggestions for you.
I was 100% sure about my hall, and never second guessed that decision. I actually had a deposit down on another place but I still had concerns and doubts. I kept looking until we found the perfect place.
What are your concerns? Pros / Cons?

Re: Please help me to decide
the place isn't going to determine how good a time people have - have you looked at a lot of places?

I second what Lisa said - I never, ever second guessed my reception location. There is a lot out there in your price range. Have you looked at other places? I wouldn't let them pressure you because the date is over a year away and I can't see them booking up that quickly.

Can you give some suggestions? So far I have looked at Danfords, Michaels Mansion, the PJ country club, The Three Village Inn and called at least another 20 places. I have to be close to a hotel as I will have a lot of out of towners and they wont be able to drive here.

Are you looking for a Sat. night? In any particular area?

Re: Please help me to decide
any other criteria? such as one affair at a time, on the water, views, etc? What day and what time? (is it a Sat night?)
You can get around the hotel nearby if you provide transportation for your guests. There are some pretty affordable options. It'd be hard to find a hotel in walking distance.

Re: Please help me to decide
I would like to be on the water or close to the water and I want want an evening wedding. There is a new Court Yard Marriott v. close to the Beach Club, they offer a shuttle service to and from the reception. Thats one of the things I really liked.

Re: Please help me to decide
I had my reception at the Sans Souci on a Friday night in September. The price was less than $100 per person (inc. tax/tip). Sans Souci is on the same road as the Swan Club but in Sea Cliff (a tiny bit east). How about John Anthony's or the Harbor Club (same owners I think)? Someone I work with got married at the Harbor Club and loved it and it was definitely less than $100 for a Friday night for him. You could try the Miller Place Inn. How about the Old Field Club in Stony Brook? If I think of anything else, I'll post again. If you are second-guessing yourself and you are not completely comfortable with the place then don't book it yet. It isn't going anywhere Good luck and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

Don't worry - Once you get through the initial stressful part of the planning it will get fun. I know it can be really rough but it gets better as things fall into place -
