Just one more suggestion - I don't know if you've picked one up but I found the Long Island Wedding Facilities and Services magazine to be mega-helpful when selecting a reception hall. It has tons of places, price ranges, pictures, sample menus, etc. It is a good place to start.

I am actually going to look at the Beach House tomorrow for my e-party, my mom knows the owner, so I will let you know what I think.

also I've been hearing great things about North Ritz Club (not sure on prices - no water, but elegant)

Did you chek out John Anthony's? I am not sure what there Friday night price is, but their sunday day price is way with in your budget, so I sure that the Friday night price is too. FM me if you want the price I was quoted.

Also Captain Bills in Bayshore, is really nice, form what I heard and I believe they are in your price range.

Are you having a lot of out of town people? If so you should definitely consider how close it is to the hotel and how you people are going to get back and forth- the free shuttle might be the best thing. I don't have any suggestions but it's just something to keep in mind. Also when it comes to budget- if the place costs a little more per person but includes flowers it could turn out to be cheaper because the flowers are sooooo expensive.

All I have to say is when you walk into the place if it brings a big smile to your face and you can picture you, family, and friends having a great time there than just book it. If you have any doubts whatsoever than, wait a little longer.
There are some great places on LI, and not all are overly expensive, we found a place that we loved and actually wound up being less tham we were willing to spend.
Follow your heart you'll know if its right.
Coral House
Chateau la Mer
are both really nice and reasonably priced, We picked Chateau la mer, FM me if you want my opinion or description.
