Please help me with Bridal Shower locations

Pretty new here and I see that you guys are all so very helpful.

Mother in Law had offered to help out with the bridal shower when I mentioned to her that my best friend/MOH was considering doing it at my place (date would still remain a surprise) because funds were limited. MIL said that it should be in a restaurant, she knew a couple, because it would be 'nicer' and that she would help contribute financially.

I got excited and told my MOH this and she said it could work. I just got the news from my FI that she said my MOH/BM's need to just do it on their own, she didn't want to spend the time and money on this. (she did the same with the upcoming engagement party, told me she was throwing it and having it catered, after the invites were sent she requested I ask my friends to contribute food, which was embarrasing, only to just find out she is having it catered with a server!)

My MOH and BM's are not in any real financial situation to throw me a bridal shower, per-sae.

Are there any places that you can recommend in Brooklyn, Queens or Manhattan that would be good for a bridal shower with out the high cost, we would like to keep it under 800.00 (yes I will be contributing to my own shower...)

I know it sounds like I am being bitchy and it sound ungrateful, trust me I am, however I ( and my entire bridal party) feel that she's not being 'right' with me.

I don't know... just needed venting.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Please help me with Bridal Shower locations

I kind of have the same dilemma, so I need answers to this too. My MOH is moving upstate right now, and she told me she is thinking of looking into Queens, maybe around Cross Bay Blvd. area. My mother is contributing the funds, so there's enough to have it in a restaurant.

Since she's moving upstate, I don't know how much legwork she will be able to accomplish.

However, for you marjiesan, I would double check with the FMIL about what she intends on doing. You don't want to put a deposit down with your BMs and find out she took care of it already!!!

I've been to a bridal shower at Caresello on Cross Bay Blvd. The food was pretty good and the prices were reasonable..
