Please help me....I need help with a song(kinda long)
Original post by dm24angel
I'm starting to get really upset over trying to find a song to dance with my father to. I keep changing my mind and he basically wants me to decide.
Background is that my parents split when I was less then 2 yrs old and I saw my dad two times untill I was 19...then we started to talk again and over the last 10 years have formed a good relationship. I know he loves me to death as I do him and I want to pick this song to express some of that, but I cant seem to find anything. None of the typical 'daddy' or Father/Daughter songs seem to apply since more or less he didnt raise me until I was close to an adult already.
Please...any suggestions are appreciated. I feel like crying trying to find something that fits and expresses how happy I am with where we are today in our lives as I get married.

dm24-what about a song that does not have to do with father/daughter relationships, but is upbeat and more about you on this day and what he might be thinking while looking at you!
I chose 'Isn't she lovely' by Stevie Wonder.

I like 'Through the Years' by Kenny Rogers.

What about this Josh Grobin song? It fits a little...I cant stop thinking about this and how I cant find anything! Its making me crazy..
Your Still You
Through the darkness I can see your light And you will always shine And I can feel your heart in mine Your face I've memorized I idolize just you
I look up to Everything you are In my eyes you do no wrong I've loved you for so long And after all is said and done You're still you After all You're still you
You walk past me I can feel your pain Time changes everything One truth always stays the same You're still you After all You're still you
I look up to Everything you are In my eyes you do no wrong And I believe in you Although you never asked me to I will remember you And what life put you through
And in this cruel and lonely world I found one love You're still you After all You're still you
I think this would be a great song. Anything Josh Grobin is beautiful!!

OK, we will solve this dm24angel. You have been so helpful to me so I've been thinking about this on and off today. I just asked FH, a musician, and her was no help but he did say 'Hey why don't you look at that list the dj gave us.' So here it is. I'm sure you have seen a lot of these. I don't know all of them.
A Song for My Daughter- Miki Viereck Because You Loved Me-Celine Dio Butterfly Kisses Daddy's Hands- Holly Dunn Daughter of Mine-John McDermott My Special Angel- Bobby Hemls Unforgettable- Natalie Cole You Decorated My Life- Kenny Rogers You're the Inspiration-Chicago
A Smile Like Yours- Natlie Cole Beautiful in My Eyes- Joshua Kadison Can I HAve This Dance- Anne Murray I am Your Child- Barry Manilow If... -BRead Memories- Elvis Presley Sunrise, Sunset- Fiddler on the Roof The Rose- Bette Midler I Need You to Turn To-Elton John Love of My Life- Carly Simon The Times of Our Lives- Paul Anka You are My Special Angel- Bobby Helms You've Got a Friend- James Taylor or Carole King Your Song- Elton John Blessed- Elton John
Does your dad have any favorite artists in particular? That might help you. Have you thought of movie soundtracks?
I don't know the songs very well.
Hope this helps.
Oh, and to the rest of the girls thanks for the hugs about my Dad. I thought I was ok with it (seven years into it) but not having my mom alive and my Dad in the state he is in... I'm realizing how big of a part all of your parents are playing in your day. When I hear about the 'drama from your mammas' in some ways I'm thankful and in other's I'm sad.
Oh, wait another idea... Have you tried calling the oldies station? Maybe WFUV they are independent public Fordham University station and the dj's know so much.
OK this post is ridiculously long.
