Please HELP with opinions on my U-Shaped Floor plan

Please look in my 'Floorplan' Album.

Our hotel wedding planner did a quick floor plan for us because we wanted long tables instead of rounds. We are having a small beach wedding, approx 50 people, and the reception tables will be set up on the hotel's terrace.

What do you guys think about the u-shape? It's the best table set-up without cramping if we want to use long tables.

Dance floor is in the middle of the U, DJ to the left of the dance floor. Guests would be on east side of the table, which means that some people's backs would be facing the dance floor. My mom doesn't like this, BUT people's backs would be facing the dance floor if we had rounds, too! Same thing!

What do you guys think? Is this weird? I like it! We don't want to use traditional rounds. We could do squares of 8 instead, but again, people's backs would still be facing the dance floor...and we want to use long tables instead!

You should do whatever makes you happy...its your day after all People who want to see the dance floor will turn around when things are worth seeing.

I agree that you should do what you think looks best. Another option is to use smaller square or rectangular tables around the dance floor and keep the long one at the end.

I like this, was thinking the same thing with square tables at an angle (think diamond shape rather than square) Depending upon how big the squares are, maybe two people on each side, for a total of 8 per square table.
Most important is that the tables should be angled toward the table with the bride and groom.

Re: Please HELP with opinions on my U-Shaped Floor plan

I like your orig floorplan best.. with the 3 long tables.. very cosmopolitan.

whatever you decide.. just make sure that there is enough room for people sitting back to back, and room for the servers to get in btw. nothings worse than feeling squished in.

are you able to see the tables arranged prior to the wedding?

Re: Please HELP with opinions on my U-Shaped Floor plan

Yes. I will be able to see the actual set-up next month. I like the long table and smaller square table ideas, but I still like the U-shape best. Thanks everyone!
