OK, I'm fuming. My fh was approached by his brother's SIL. She said 'Can i bring Katie to the wedding because Erin and Sean (FH's niece and nephew who are in the wedding) will be asking for her all night?' What kind of stupid excuse is that??? She offered to sit with the kids and babysit?? I can't believe the Ba*ls on her. I'm sorry this ladies Aunt and Uncle live upstairs and can easily babysit for free. I do not feel bad at all.
How do you make sure that it is clear that there is NO KIDS at the wedding??
FH said to her we're not having kids at the wedding but I'm not sure ithat comment is enough.

We just told people flat out - we're not having kids at the wedding. We also told our parents to spread the word and that worked out well too. We didn't have any kids there at all.

Re: please help...ba*lsy people
ok-I don't see it being a huge issue. I can't think of anyone else that would try and pull that. I cant believe people.
I wish I was there when she asked!!!
thanks!

Re: please help...ba*lsy people
I'm worried about this myself... my mom called me last night and said...'what are we doing about Uncle Tony's kids?' I said...'nothing, I'm sorry, but it's not my problem, there are NO KIDS coming to the wedding!' She also said to me a few months back...'you do realize your cousin james is going to expect to bring his kids...' I said, 'well then I guess i'm just going to have to get married without James there!' I told her to make it very clear, that NO, children are not coming to the wedding...if you can't find a babysitter, I'm sorry, we'll miss you...
you have to stand your ground...it's the only way to get the point across! Good Luck!!!

Re: please help...ba*lsy people
on your invites, after you annouce the ceremony, you put ADULT RECEPTION TO FOLLOW at Jericho Terrace.
But the question is, will you have any children in the bridal party ? the FG or RB ??

Re: please help...ba*lsy people
On my RSVP cards I am noting '___ Seats have been reserved in your honor'
And putting hte amount of people I reserved seats for that are included in the invite. So when I put 2 seats were reserved for my aunt and uncle who have 3 younger kids they will know only 2 of them are invited just incase htey didnt get it when the invite was only addressed to them.
But I dont want kids there either and I have gotten some comments by my dads side. I only wanted above 18 but one of my cousins i am really close to is only going to be 17 and i couldnt even imagine my wedding without her. But since hse is only 17 and my grandma knows she will def say something if my other 2 cousins who are 16 and 17 are not invited. SO i made the age limit 16 but thankfully only one 16 year old is invited

Re: please help...ba*lsy people
ok thanks-i think 16 is fine. It's the little ones that will run around and what not. Not into that for my wedding.

Re: please help...ba*lsy people
i have seen many couples that have a fg and rb in the bp just have them attend the ceremony and not the reception when its adults only, that way you avoid these kinds of instances, just a thought~

Re: please help...ba*lsy people
Tell her you are ONLY having kids at the wedding who are in the wedding party. If she brings her child, then it will cause other people to be mad that they couldn't bring their children.
Ask her not you put YOU in that position. You don't want to have to explain to others why HER child is there and she's not in the wedding party.
What is wrong w/ people. If she can't simply say 'Katie is home' to the other kids, then she has problems. I doubt the kids will be asking ALL night... its just a lame-o excuse!
I'm sorry you have annoying guests. I hope everything works out.

Re: please help...ba*lsy people
thats nuts! we're having the same problem, FH's aunts and uncles WERE planning to bring all of FH's cousins who are like 5 and 6, but I already had everyone spread the word no kids.

Re: please help...ba*lsy people
we werent gonna have kids either. I am still not 100% sure what we are doing..I have 2 FG and they are gonna be there and i know that will cause a problem with the family. When i did a head count it only came to like 6 kids anyways so i think we will let them come lol
People need to respect the fact that you dont want kids running all over the place. if we had ALOT of kids i would not invite them at all! people wanna hang out and relax not run after kids all day. Also, if i dont make the minimum for the hall i am NOT PAYING $90 for kids to eat chicken fingers!

Re: please help...ba*lsy people
We are just doing my sis/bro's kids and same with FH.
We are spreading the word, but will probably add something to the invitation so people get the point.

Re: please help...ba*lsy people
we're just doing 1st cousins (kids) and they're are only like 6 of them...then the RB and FG's but thats it, just explain you want an adult reception, not including the rb and fg who you are obviously very close w/ .... no offense to them-- its just what you want!!!

Re: please help...ba*lsy people
Think about it this way.... at least she asked... most people will just write it on the RSVP card.
Tell her that you can't make an acception. You and FH really don't want kids there so that's the end of it.

Re: please help...ba*lsy people
i don't have too many little ones in the family.. so i'm not really worried about it.. if 5 or 6 children are there that's perfectly ok with me.. my FG and RB's mom is in the wedding party as well.. so her parents are coming to the wedding and will probably leave a little earlier with them cause the reception ends at 1:30 am. But i think most people will try to find a sitter because they dont' want the kids up that late, and also they want to enjoy themselves without chasing after the kids.
I would def. explain to her that if she brings her kid then everyone will be offended..as if she is getting special treatment.. and that the RB and FG are the only children who will be attending simply because they are in the bridal party..
