Please Help..Divorced and trying to have a catholic inspired wedding
I am divorced and my FH is catholic and has never been married. I was going to try to get my first marriage annulled, but it would take to long. His family is somewhat religious. They are aware I am divorced and I can not marry in a church. However, I am hearing that I can have a priest officiate my wedding at a ceremony location and just not sign the marriage license on behalf of the church. Is this true, can someone please please help me. I would like my FH and his family have a ceremony that is as most religious as I can give them. Why should he and his mom not have the 'DAY' they hoped for because of me. Any ideas or help???

Were you previously married in a Catholic church? If not, then you can still get married in a Cath. church if your FH is Catholic and never been married. My understanding is that you cannot have a Catholic nuptial mass, but you can have a ceremony. This also depends on the priests at the church.
As for getting married outside the Catholic church by a priest, no they are not permitted to do so. They are not permitted to marry couples anywhere other than a Catholic church, although there are some retired priests that you can 'rent' to officiate your wedding at your reception hall, but it is not considered a catholic wedding or catholic marriage etc. Some ladies have used these retired priests so I'm sure someone can point you in the right direction Good luck!
